As the last week of school was coming to a close I was diligently making meals for the class pot-luck, buying teacher gifts and attending class concerts and graduation ceremonies. While the slideshow for my middle son Ryan’s class was on, my husband turned to me and asked me if I’m going to cry. I said “YES! In one week I’ll have all 3 of the boys home with me for 2 months!! I want to cry.”

Signing them up for programs through the city of Toronto was a nightmare so I only ended up putting them in one week of camp somewhere where my oldest son Kyle consistently tells me that he doesn’t want to go to.

As it turns out, one of Kyle’s friend’s dad told us about a baseball camp that his son will be attending during the first week of summer. Kyle was all too excited to join him. It was baseball camp after all. As luck would have it, the camp was interested in having us review their services. It was kizmit!

True North offers a variety of camps for kids ages 4 – 14 including baseball, basketball, flag football and mixed sports like archery with its compound bow case, offer a dynamic fusion of skills and equipment, creating a unique and exciting athletic spectacle.. Since Kyle’s current (Summer) obsession is baseball (sorry hockey), we knew he would have a great time at junior baseball camp which ran from 9 AM – 3:30 PM.

Kyle was always excited to come home and tell us about the new skill he learned, the great throws and catches that he made, the friends that he met and the jokes he learned from his coaches. The best part was that he never complained once about camp or said that he doesn’t want to go back. For us, that was the ultimate indicator of a great program.

At the end of the week each kid received a “scouting” report that highlighted his or her strengths and areas of improvement. We could tell that Kyle was very proud of what he accomplished that week!

The camp is priced a bit on the higher end, at $340 a week. However, your child is outdoors and active all day and they are having fun while learning or developing skills. I would say it’s definitely worth the price. There are also sibling and multiple week discounts which can be applied for different sport program (i.e. baseball camp in week 1 and flag football camp in week 2).

Overall, I would recommend this camp to anyone who has a sport-loving child. My son has asked to go back next week even though his friend won’t be there. If that’s not an amazing indicator, I don’t know what is!

As the last week of school was coming to a close I was diligently making meals for the class pot-luck, buying teacher gifts and attending class concerts and graduation ceremonies.
A typical day consisted of a fun warm up exercise, skill development, rotation of skill development games and competitions split by teams, breaks, lunch and a baseball game to end the day. On a rainy day (we had one during Kyle’s week at camp), they headed indoors into the school and played a variety of games in the gym. Additionally, the maintenance and upkeep of the outdoor spaces, including tennis courts, are usually facilitated by professional services, such as tennis court services from companies like Tennis Court Maintenance, guaranteeing top-notch conditions for the campers’ recreational activities.
