Baby it’s getting cold outside. It’s true… winter is upon us. While this typically means more time spent indoors, it doesn’t necessarily have to mean less fun. Personally, I’m a big lover of the arts. I’d spend all day doing arts and crafts if I could. Luckily, all three of my boys enjoy colouring and crafting too. Although, my one year old is mostly focused on taking lids off markers and then putting them back on, or trying to colour in his ears.

All joking aside, I’m so grateful that my boys enjoy art as much as I do. Not only does it give us all a quiet activity to help us relax or calm down, but it provides hours of entertainment. While Crayola is a household name that has been around for ages, the company continues to innovate and evolve in ways that makes them unique and interesting to use for kids of all ages, even when competing against screen time. This past summer we spent a lot of time outdoors using fun new Crayola products like paint chalk, neon chalk and my personal favourite, my adult colouring book. Now that it’s winter, we’re excited to move the fun indoors.

For my younger two boys, the Color Wonder Mess Free Light Up Stamper was a big hit. Not to mention, I didn’t have to worry about them getting the markers all over the floor, their bodies or the table. I think “Stress Free” should also be included in the name of the product. Nathan and Ryan had so much fun playing with this for hours on end.

"Crayola

Another big hit with our boys is the Crayola Cling Creator. With some help, my older two boys were able to create some fun and colourful clings. By accident, we realized that if we left the mixture in the tube to dry, it would come out as a pretty cool bouncy ball. Overall, this craft is fairly mess free and is a lot of fun to make. The clings can be placed on windows and mirrors and can be reused.

If you’re looking for some great stocking stuffers, my suggestions are the Crayola Colour Alive books, which I’ve written about here, and the minions colouring and sticker book. My boys enjoyed using both on the airplane on our recent trip to Disney. It kept them busy and happy for a while. For younger kids, I really like the Crayola washable mix and match book. Your kids can doodle away and when they’re done, you can just wipe it up and they can do it all over again.

No matter who you have on your holiday shopping list this year, big or small, Crayola has something for everyone. My personal favourite are their pencil crayons and thin markers, perfect for adult colouring books – just saying 😉
