Not bad for someone who used to take an hour straightening her hair using a curl brush, hair dryer and hair straightener. The straightener comes with a built in brush and heats up to 450 degrees.

ONLY 10 MINUTES to get my hair this straight (see natural curly hair picture below)

Food

Now that back to school is behind us and most have us have stopped creating elaborate bento box lunches for our kids, it’s time to think about WHAT we’re feeding them.

I recently attended a “Healthy kids lunch” workshop and one of the main things that I walked away with learning is that our kids need protein rich food to keep them going from one meal to the next but based on what I was feeding them for breakfast and lunch (and pretty much everyone else) they weren’t receiving enough (mostly just lots of carbohydrates which makes kids crash after an hour versus 3 – 4 hours with protein rich food). I made two quick and simple changes. I now serve my kids the below healthy chocolate (yup healthy chocolate) cereal, made with beans, for breakfast and the below bread for lunch. Both are higher in protein than what we were using previously. The best part is that my son still loves them just as much as the other stuff he was eating before so no one’s the wiser 🙂

Mugs

I was always a big mug lover. It needed to be big and nice or I wouldn’t use it. Also, for a year now, John and I have started making our morning coffee at home instead of getting from the nearby Tim Hortons. That change has been completely life changing. Not only are we saving so much money, but there’s something amazing to be said about waking up to the aroma of freshly brewed coffee. With all the money we’re saving, it only made sense to buy a new mug 🙂 My most recent purchase is states “Do what you LOVE” and it’s something that totally resonates with me.

As someone who worked in the corporate world and got an MBA to give it all up to stay home with her kids and blog, it’s something that speaks true to me. I’ve never been happier or in a better place personally and occupationally. It’s something I want to instill in my sons even though they’re all five or under. You can purchase this mug, and several other awesome ones, including holiday-themed mugs that I have my eyes on, from Chapters.

Toys

If you know me or have been following my blog for a while, you already know that my boys are obsessed with hockey. Both of my older two sons knew all of the NHL team names before they turned two and they both learned how to shoot before they could walk. So when we heard that Playmobil Canada was launching an entire NHL line of products, we were excstatic. We found out about it in the summer from our local toy store and we patiently waited four months until they hit the shelves. No surprise we were at the store the day they arrived. The kids love playing with it every day.
