If you have kids, you have mess. It’s true… a known fact even. If anyone tries to tell you otherwise, their either lying, are really quick to clean up, are in major denial or they don’t have kids. Kids = messy! It’s a math equation. Trust me on this one.

So when my very independent middle son Ryan wants something to drink, he says the same thing every time: “I want to do it”. Everything from taking milk out of the fridge, to pouring it in his bottle or cup, to drinking it. In fact, he wasn’t even a year before he would insisted on eating unassisted. If I held on to his food, he smacked it away, only mere inches away from his lips. He didn’t know how to use a fork and could barely manage handling his food with a spoon but it didn’t matter. He needed one of each and he would try his hardest to self feed with utensils ALONE! Talk about independence. If I’ve done one thing right as a parent, it is this!

While I humbly toot my own horn about teaching my son to be independent (I’m sure it had nothing to do with his personality), let me backtrack and let you know that he’s obsessed with his bottles. It’s his security blanket. He will only drink out of bottles. No ifs ands or buts. The thing is, he’s almost three and we need to kick this habit to the curb. So I decided to entice him with some fun sippy cups.

We tried out the new Playtex Playtime Cups that have a Thomas the Tank Engine design on them. The cups have the Twist ‘N Click technology which makes them leak-proof (guarantee). Which is perfect for my little guy. I can let him feel grownup without worrying about spills and messes. You’ll know that the lid is secure when you hear the clicking sound. The cups are also 100% spill- and break-proof. I offered it to Ryan and while he was hesitant at first, he gave it a go and he liked it. He actually drank from it without much fuss. It’s especially handy now that the weather is warmer and I’m focused on keeping my kids hydrated.

While Ryan is still obsessed with his bottles, we try to only use them first thing in the morning and right before bed time when he drinks milk. I think using the Playtex Cups is a great way to transition him out of his bottles.

Here’s some of my other favourite features of this cup:

* Double wall insulation to keep drinks cool longer

* Streamlined ergonomic design making it easier for your children’s little hands to hold

* Dishwasher Safe

* BPA Free
