After weeks (or in my case months) of back and forth with your friends, you finally pencil in a night out on the calendar. You&#8217;re excited as you anticipate the big day and are ecstatic to have a night out away from the kids. When the night FINALLY arrives, you leave the kids at home with a sitter, beaming ear to ear, and you head out for an adult night out with good food, drinks and company. EXCEPT&#8230;. not even an hour into your outing your mind starts racing and your parenting instincts kick in and you start longing for your kids. Not enough to cancel your night out and head back home, but you&#8217;re curious for a peek or an update. However, you don&#8217;t want to call the sitter, be it your parents, siblings, friend or otherwise. You don&#8217;t want to make it seem like you don&#8217;t trust them. So instead, you sit there wondering and constantly checking your phone for a text, call, update&#8230; Any update.<\/p>\n<p>Well, wonder and wait no more! My husband and I have long been seeking a Wi-Fi baby monitor. Until recently, there were only a few models on the market and the reviews for most were mediocre. That&#8217;s why we were excited to try out the new <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bestbuy.ca\/en-CA\/product\/d-link-d-link-video-baby-monitor-with-wi-fi-pan-tilt-dcs-850l-white-dcs-850l\/10363803.aspx?path=d3b27f2d7be4efaf6cafbd17f5b638dden02\" target=\"_blank\">D-link Wi-Fi Baby Monitor<\/a> from Best Buy. Set up the monitor in your kids\u2019 room and watch them from your smartphone, tablet or iPad anywhere on the go where you can connect to the Internet.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7013\" src=\"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/20150712_232652.jpg\" alt=\"D-link baby monitor\" width=\"4160\" height=\"2340\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/20150712_232652.jpg 4160w, https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/20150712_232652-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/20150712_232652-1024x576.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 4160px) 100vw, 4160px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>So far, we&#8217;ve only had a chance to try it out at the cottage. It&#8217;s actually perfect for that as we can put our kids down for a nap or to bed at night and sit on the dock enjoying some alone time without feeling like we have to stay indoors. The monitor was easy to set up, taking no more than 5 minutes. The app walks you through the quick and easy set-up. The video image quality was amazing and I love the little emoticons alerts that pop up on your screen to advise you if any noise or movement was detected and how many times.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7015\" src=\"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Screenshot_2015-07-13-13-38-58.png\" alt=\"D link baby monitor daytime view\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1440\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Screenshot_2015-07-13-13-38-58.png 2560w, https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Screenshot_2015-07-13-13-38-58-300x168.png 300w, https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Screenshot_2015-07-13-13-38-58-1024x576.png 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2560px) 100vw, 2560px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Since we were fairly close to the cottage, we were still connected to our Wi-Fi. I&#8217;m curious to try it out by connecting remotely although I&#8217;m sure it&#8217;ll be as streamlined of a process\u00a0as it has been so far. Some of the other great features is the ability to see your baby in the dark as the camera has an infra-red light that illuminates when it detects darkness (but you can also switch it on manually).
