Mother’s day is coming up and while I’ve been celebrating it myself since 2010, this will be my first year celebrating it as a mom of THREE! We typically keep the celebration low key and celebrate the day with extended family including my mom and my brother’s family. Truthfully, I feel so fortunate that I don’t really need a specific day to celebrate Mother’s day because as a stay-at-home-mom, I feel like I celebrate it daily. I spend so much quality time with my boys, playing with them, reading to them and going to various activities and kid-friendly places around the city. In fact, contrary to most moms, I typically crave a few hours to myself come Mother’s day.

Being a mom is one of the hardest jobs in the world. We are after all raising little humans to become independent, polite and happy adults. That’s not an easy task and one I don’t take lightly. Every day is a challenge and an adventure. Like a roller-coaster, it has its ups and downs and sometimes your whole world turns upside down. Luckily, each new day we get to try again, tweak our methods or let the good ride continue on without any changes.

Of course, each mom and family is different and unique, there is no one-size-fits-all parenting solution. That’s probably why there are hundreds of parenting books and philosophies out there and why people offer conflicting advice. Same goes for mother’s day. Some of us may want to enjoy the day alone, at the spa or with some girlfriends while others may prefer to spend quality time with their kids and loved ones. No matter which category you may fall in, we are all moms and we are a united front! And even though some of us may get to “celebrate” motherhood daily, it’s still nice to receive the acknowledgement and recognition come Mother’s Day.

I would love it if you could join me and The Canadian Mother Resource (CMR) for the #‎CMRLovesMoms twitter party this Tuesday, May 5 from 9-10pm EST, where we’ll be tweeting about all things MOM. There will be $700 in Indigo gift cards to win, so be sure to RSVP below for some Mother’s Day fun!
