Believe it or not, Easter weekend is in 11 days. Yes, we’ve officially began the countdown at our house. My oldest son Kyle, who is four years old, is so excited for Easter this year. I think a lot of it has to do with him being in JK and hearing stories from his friends. A few weeks ago, on our walk home, he started asking me about the Easter bunny. He was wondering if he’s the one that hides the chocolate eggs similar to how Santa drops of Christmas gifts. Not really knowing anything about Easter or the bunny myself (we’re Jewish after all), I kind of went along with it. I asked him what his friends said happens, and once he acknowledged that it was, I confirmed it. After all, I didn’t want to be the one that breaks it to him (or the rest of the class). Since we’ll be up at the cottage for the Easter long weekend, Kyle wanted to make sure that the Easter bunny knew that. Again, not knowing anything about how this “works”, I told him that I would write the Easter bunny a letter letting him know to hide the chocolate eggs at the cottage, and not at home. He seemed happy with that answer, and I was pleased with myself for thinking on my feet.

Since my son is really excited for Easter (aka eating lots of chocolate), I thought we’d go and take pictures with the Easter Bunny. Upper Canada Mall, located north of Toronto in Newmarket, has a super cute and dapper bunny named Edgar O’bunny.

Kyle was really looking forward to it and he’s typically afraid of mascots and the like. To my surprise, Kyle almost jumped in Edgar’s lap when it was our turn to take the pictures. My newborn son, Nate, was more than happy to sit on a fuzzy bunny and look around and my middle son, Ryan, was a little afraid. After some sitting rearrangements and hand-holding, he was okay with the idea. The photographer and her helpers were very patient and helpful. They even took several shots to make sure we got a few good ones to pick from. We even managed to get a picture of everyone looking at the camera (can I get an Hallelujah). Overall, we had a great experience. It was fast, easy and painless which is key when going to the mall with several kids and no additional help. I’m really happy with the prints (which you receive on the spot) and everyone gets a free digital download with their package which is great for sharing on social media, family and friends.

Do you take your kids to have their pictures taken with the Easter Bunny?
