Small confession to make…I’m not a domesticated diva. There, I’ve said it, I got it off my chest. Sure, I’m a stay at home mom, but unlike the traditional Mrs. Cleaver, I don’t spend most of my time cleaning or cooking. Rather, I spend it with my boys. While I would love for my house to be clean and tidy at all times, it’s not. Usually, a quick peak into my cupboards and drawers would reveal the truth… My kitchen is a mess! I love organization, but I have no time for it. Alas, it takes a back seat to my various other demands. I would love to reorganize my kitchen drawers, but only if it’s easy and convenient.

I have another confession to make. For the past year, I’ve been using my mother’s and sister-in-law’s storage containers. Sure, I own some, but I never really used them. They were all stuck in a black-hole of containers and random lids. It was a hassle to find containers that my left overs would fit into, let alone, find the a matching lid. So every Friday night, after our family dinner with my extended family, I would borrow my mom’s and sister-in-law’s containers to take home the leftovers. It embarrassingly became part of the routine. I felt that it was about time to get a set of my own.

packing up the leftover food

The past few weeks, I got a chance to tackle both of these issues. I was provided with a box of Rubbermaid Easy Find Lids. I was actually excited to get organized. I was so thrilled with the quality, durability, variety of sizes and how easy the containers stacked and stored that I threw out almost all my old containers and lids. With my new containers the lids easily snap to each other and can attach to the bottom of other containers. The smaller size containers easily nest in the larger ones. They’re also all microwave, dishwasher and freezer safe. It doesn’t get any better than that. A complete container set like this is such a great way to ensure that you locate lids when you need them and not fill a container with leftover food only to realize that you don’t have a lid for it (speaking from experience of course).
