{"id":5672,"date":"2014-12-10T09:14:40","date_gmt":"2014-12-10T14:14:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/?p=5672"},"modified":"2014-12-10T14:41:52","modified_gmt":"2014-12-10T19:41:52","slug":"shop-fair-trade-season-ten-thousand-villages","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/shop-fair-trade-season-ten-thousand-villages\/","title":{"rendered":"Shop Fair Trade This Season at Ten Thousand Villages"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As a business student, I spent a lot of time learning about traditional concepts like supply and demand and profitability. \u00a0I also learned about how some companies incorporate Corporate Social Responsibility into their business model in order to give back. \u00a0Besides good business practice, these companies aim to have a\u00a0positive impact on the environment and a variety of stakeholders including consumers, employees, investors, communities, and others. \u00a0One company that drives this goal home is Ten Thousand Villages.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/10k-villages-logo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-5681\" src=\"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/10k-villages-logo-300x55.jpg\" alt=\"10k villages logo\" width=\"300\" height=\"55\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/10k-villages-logo-300x55.jpg 300w, https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/10k-villages-logo.jpg 402w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;ve never heard of Ten Thousand Villages, you must check them out! They have 37\u00a0\u00a0stores across\u00a0Canada and operate under a fair trade agreement with their partners, mostly talented artisans living in third world countries that are disadvantaged producers. These individuals, who create beautiful things, want to be treated with dignity and respect for their work and expect to be compensated accordingly for their time, efforts and materials. That&#8217;s what fair trade is all about and that&#8217;s why I love shopping and supporting organizations like Ten Thousand Villages. Not to mention, the things they sell are just stunning. I can&#8217;t help myself and stop and window shop every time I walk by the store (which is every day since there&#8217;s one down the street from me).<\/p>\n<p>I received the opportunity to try out some of their products including an infinity scarf and beautiful earrings. The scarf is soft and has beautiful prints. I love the bright colours which are a perfect contrast to the somber plain colours that are in fashion this season. \u00a0It&#8217;s great to wear everyday under your coat to keep you warm but something that you can keep wearing once you&#8217;re indoors. \u00a0The earrings are a perfect statement piece. \u00a0They can be worn on a daily basis or are a great way to spruce up an outfit.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/10k-villages-dangling-leaves-earrings.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter
