{"id":5223,"date":"2014-09-30T09:21:43","date_gmt":"2014-09-30T13:21:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/?p=5223"},"modified":"2014-09-29T22:24:46","modified_gmt":"2014-09-30T02:24:46","slug":"summer-activities-toronto-2014","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/summer-activities-toronto-2014\/","title":{"rendered":"Our Summer Recap 2014"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This summer has been a busy one, to say the least. \u00a0I was in my third trimester and had two active boys at home that I had to keep busy and entertained. \u00a0It was one of my hardest pregnancies and all I wanted to do was sleep. Of course that wasn&#8217;t an option on most days so I found other ways to keep ourselves occupied and to keep me on my feet. \u00a0Here are some of our favourite summer activities and outings.<\/p>\n<h3>1. Zoo<\/h3>\n<p>The Zoo is one of my sons favourite places to go to. \u00a0Even though it&#8217;s at least a 30 minute drive from home, located in the suburbs of Toronto, we were there almost every week throughout the summer. \u00a0It&#8217;s large enough that we were able to see a different area with each visit. One of the activities we always have to do is go on the Zoomobile, a &#8220;train&#8221; that goes around the perimeter of the zoo. \u00a0The staff on the Zoomobile are extremely friendly and informative. \u00a0We learned tons of great tidbits about the Zoo and its animals on every ride. \u00a0The other thing my son insists on doing with every visit is going on the carousal. \u00a0During the summer months, the Zoo has an amazing splash pad that&#8217;s perfect for kids of all ages.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/CAM01472.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5238\" src=\"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/CAM01472.jpg\" alt=\"zoo splash pad\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/CAM01472.jpg 640w, https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/CAM01472-300x168.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>2. Canada&#8217;s Wonderland<\/h3>\n<p>While it&#8217;s located in the North end of the GTA and at least a 40 minute drive from home, both of my sons enjoy spending time at Canada&#8217;s Wonderland. Luckily, my younger son is fearless and at the young age of 17 months, he was willing to go on some rides alone or with his brother.\u00a0\u00a0This was great\u00a0as I couldn&#8217;t go on most rides due to my pregnancy. Planet Snoopy and Kidzville has tons of rides, shows, games and food options. \u00a0Before we knew it, a full\u00a0day has passed\u00a0at Wonderland.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/CAM00321-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5236\" src=\"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/CAM00321-1.jpg\" alt=\"wonderland ride for both kids\" width=\"360\" height=\"640\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/CAM00321-1.jpg 360w, https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/CAM00321-1-168x300.jpg 168w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 360px) 100vw, 360px\" \/><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/IMG_20140605_155406.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5239\" src=\"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/IMG_20140605_155406.jpg\" alt=\"wonderland hot air balloon ride\" width=\"480\" height=\"640\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/IMG_20140605_155406.jpg 480w, https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/IMG_20140605_155406-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>3.\u00a0Cottage<\/h3>\n<p>During the summer, our weekends are spent up north at the cottage. Even though this is a 2.5+ hour trip, its definitely worth it. \u00a0The weather this summer wasn&#8217;t spectacular, but there&#8217;s nothing like getting away from the city and spending time outdoors. \u00a0Our days were spent on the dock busying ourselves with a sand and water table, going for boat rides or swimming in the lake. This summer, our time up north was particularly short as we closed down early due to the impending birth of our third son. We&#8217;re already\u00a0looking forward to next summer knowing we can spend more time up there as a new family of five.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Nikon-Cottage-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4620 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Nikon-Cottage-2-1024x1024.jpg\" alt=\"cottage dock fun\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Nikon-Cottage-2-1024x1024.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Nikon-Cottage-2-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Nikon-Cottage-2-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Nikon-Cottage-2.jpg 2000w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As most parents can attest, driving far distances with a young child isn&#8217;t always easy or fun. Toddlers tend to get bored and fussy on drives, regardless of the distance. That&#8217;s why it&#8217;s important to be prepared. While part of the solution is to have a lot of toys and snacks for them, the other part includes having a comfortable car seat. That&#8217;s why we love our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.evenflo.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Evenflo Platinum Symphony DLX<\/a>. Not only does it look great and the fabric is great and it comes with high safety ratings, it&#8217;s extremely comfortable. My son easily\u00a0falls asleep\u00a0in it and it&#8217;s spacious enough for him to grow into it.
