I don’t know about you, but I’m at a stage in my life where if I want or need something, and it doesn’t come with a significant price tag, I usually just buy it. I know, it’s a crazy concept, but it’s true. Whether it’s a new pair of shoes or jewelry or a great book, most often I don’t wait for a special occasion like a birthday to ask my husband to get it for me. Perhaps it’s not ideal (for my poor husband who is often clueless about what to buy me), but it works. That’s why, when it comes to mother’s day, I don’t really care for any MATERIAL gifts. In fact, it’s the intangible that I long for. If you’re like me, here’s a list of mothers day ideas of what moms ACTUALLY want for mother’s day. Feel free to share with your significant other (you’re welcome)!

1. Sleep! I don’t just mean a sleep-in, I mean a full-day of sleep if that’s what we choose. If I want to wake up at 9, eat, go for a nap, wake up for lunch, nap again, and go to bed early, then so be it. If Mother’s Day is truly about the mom and her needs and wants, I bet you she wants SLEEP. It’s the one thing we’re constantly lacking.

2. With regards to food, don’t make mom cook any meals on Mother’s Day. Perhaps dad and/or the kids shouldn’t cook either. Unless you’re an awesome chef, and mom really prefers your cooking to restaurant food, then go out for all meals. That’s right, I said it, ALL MEALS. Or, go out with the kids to grab breakfast, bring it home to mom so she can enjoy breakfast in bed, ALONE, and go out again for lunch and dinner. Or take the kids out for lunch and dinner and order in for mom so she can have a nice relaxing pleasurable meal to consume at her own pace at the comfort of her home.

3. Implement a “no-questions asked” policy for mom. This means that if mom steps out of the house for an hour or two, she doesn’t need to ask anyone if it’s okay to do so, or tell anyone she’s leaving, she can just go as she pleases and return when she wants. Dad is on kid duty so mom should be free to go to the spa, or shopping (not the grocery type) or get her hair done, nails done (everything big) without having any guilt or worry, no questions asked!

4. Alone time! This means alone time in the shower, bath and washroom too. If mom wants to lock herself up in the bedroom all day long, then so be it! Go ahead and lock the door and put yellow police tape all over it. No interruptions, no ifs, ands, or buts.

5. Don’t make any plans or throw a surprise for mom. This is the day mom should relax, not stress out or worry about driving all over town or entertaining or getting things ready. A plan-free day equals a relaxing-day.

6. If you must purchase a gift, here’s some ideas -Consider a thoughtful gift from jewellery stores Brisbane, ensuring it adds a touch of elegance to those special moments. In addition to practical items like door locks (and having them installed by a local expert Locksmith Ninja on any door that mom may request), a babysitter, a cleaning lady, a chef, or a ticket for a nice weekend getaway (sans kids), a piece of exquisite jewelry could be a delightful surprise to celebrate her uniqueness.

Disclosure: I’m a stay at home mom, so after spending 24/7 with my kids, this is something that I would want for mother’s day, but perhaps not something that all moms would want.

I don’t know about you, but I’m at a stage in my life where if I want or need something, and it doesn’t come with a significant price tag, I usually just buy it. I know, it’s a crazy concept, but it’s true.
