Nesting, a natural period that’s part of the pregnancy life cycle. Almost all pregnant moms go through this stage. However, in the Jewish tradition, it’s customary to prepare the nursery room only AFTER the arrival of the baby. Imagine the will-power and strength required by the mom to hold-off on this very natural need. It wasn’t easy with my first, and it’s not any easier with my third. My husband and I did register ahead of the birth of our son as requested by our family and friends. But beyond purchasing a few of the essentials (i.e. bassinet, car-seat, diapers and a few onesies) we waited until after our son’s birth to complete the nursery room and the rest of our shopping for our newborn. And guess what? Somehow we survived. We made it! I also bought a new crib mobile that was more bright and interactive than our original one. If there’s one thing that I would like to upgrade this time around is to purchase a more cushioned rocking chair and ottoman. While I didn’t spend much time in our antique rocking chair with my first son, I spent a lot of time in it with our second. And while it does the trick, the armrest are made from wood and my son constantly bangs his head on it.
