Some women are said to love every second of their pregnancy. They never experience any of the typical symptoms such as morning sickness, nausea or fatigue. They are glowing the second they are pregnant, always cheerful and full of energy. I on the other hand, am NOT one of those women. Pregnancy just doesn’t suit me. I suffer from nausea, which during my second pregnancy presented itself before I even knew I was pregnant. I have morning, afternoon and night sickness, and more than a handful of people have told me that I look pale. Most of all… I am exhausted! The following quote summarize my sentiments towards pregnancy best: “Pregnancy is the happiest reason ever for feeling like crap.”

I’m on my third pregnancy and for some reason, this time around, I feel the worst yet. While the nausea is bad, the exhaustion is even worse. I feel like I need to nap every three hours. While I’m well into my second trimester, things are only slightly improving. With two high-energy boys and spring (hopefully) around the corner, I need to get my energy back and SOON!

During my first pregnancy, I purchased several books about what to eat when pregnant. This time around, I have no time to think about what I’m eating as I’m busy figuring out what to feed my toddler and preschooler, let alone feeding myself. I needed something simple yet nutritious that was easy to make while providing me with various health benefits. I recently tried Now for Mothers Healing Mix, a new product on the market. While it’s specifically formulated as a natural healing aid for post-pregnancy, it has several benefits for me now as well. The Healing Mix is organic and natural; there are no colourings, additives, preservatives or flavours making it healthy for me and safe for the baby. The product is made from organic flax, organic oats, natural brown sugar, organic almonds, raisin and walnuts just to name a few of the ingredients. It’s easy to add it add it to your favourite meals for some added sweet flavour. My favourite ways to enjoy it are in my milk, (caffeine-free) coffee, yogurt, and steel-cut-oats oatmeal. When I started having the Healing Mix with my meals it gave me back some of the energy that I was lacking.

Personally, I love the idea behind the creation of the Healing Mix. Based on ancient Eastern practices and rituals, the Healing Mix nurtures mothers back into a healthy emotional and physical state. After I had my first son I experienced the baby blues and I was in so much physical pain. I wish this product was around then which is why I know that I will definitely turn to this after I give birth this time around. Another great feature of the Healing Mix is that it aids in lactation and apparently will help the baby sleep better at night; and what mother doesn’t want that!!

Did you love being pregnant or were you more like me, feeling bad most of the time?
