Ensuring your baby is stimulated is an important part of their development. As a parent, it’s our duty to ensure that our children are appropriately developing their tactile, gross motor & fine motor skills, through cognitive, auditory and visual stimulation. In short, we need to cultivate their sense of sight, touch, taste, smell and hearing.

On the other hand, we have to make sure we don’t overstimulate our babes. Babies are often overstimulated with their environment or when we give them too many things to focus on. That’s why it’s important to find the right balance. "Playgro

One of the ways parents can properly stimulate their children is by giving them appropriate toys to play with. However, as well all know, not all toys are created equal. Some promise to help with your kid’s development but they fall short on that spectrum and provide only a few minutes of entertainment value. So… which ones should a parent select? "Playgro

Recently, Playgro provided me with two Activity Friends for my sons; Roary the Lion and Pooky the Puppy. There’s several things that immediately caught my attention as a parent. Besides being super cute, the toys are brightly coloured and are a perfect size for small hands. They make a small rattle sound when you shake them and they are made from various textured material. They also include two hanging rings from them, perfect for chewing. Once your baby grows, these toys can continue to entertain and stimulate them through pattern, colour and shape recognition. The complete set includes a third friend, Blossom the Butterfly."playgro

Playgro makes it easy to choose the right toys as products are sorted using the “Age for Stage” system: specific products target specific developmental stages from birth to 12 months and beyond.

Both Roary & Pooky have saved us from a bored and crying baby on several occasions, especially the many 2 + hour rides we took up to the cottage this summer."playgro
