{"id":1778,"date":"2013-01-16T13:46:27","date_gmt":"2013-01-16T18:46:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/?p=1778"},"modified":"2013-01-21T09:43:18","modified_gmt":"2013-01-21T14:43:18","slug":"toronto-family-day-event-for-a-great-cause-thechill-ca-stoppingkidscancercold","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/toronto-family-day-event-for-a-great-cause-thechill-ca-stoppingkidscancercold\/","title":{"rendered":"Toronto Family Day Event for a Great Cause; TheChill.ca #StoppingKidsCancerCold"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Family day was first introduced in Ontario in 2008.\u00a0 Beyond another long-weekend to break up the looooooong\u00a0winter, it&#8217;s a great way for a family to spend some much-needed time together.\u00a0 While my husband and I enjoyed this long weekend even before we became a family of three, we love it even more now that we can celebrate it with our little one.<\/p>\n<p>I was recently\u00a0told about a new and exciting event that will be taking place in Yonge-Dundas Square Toronto this upcoming Family Weekend (February 17th &amp; 18th).\u00a0 The Sears Great Canadian Chill (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.TheChill.ca\">www.TheChill.ca<\/a>) is a nationwide series of Polar Bear Dips that will Stop Kids Cancer Cold!\u00a0 It&#8217;s mission is to raise money for kids cancer.\u00a0 Specifically in Toronto, the funds raised will go to support pediatric oncology research and treatment initiatives at the Hospital for Sick Children.\u00a0 This is such a great initiative that I just had to spread the word.<a href=\"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/thechill-ca.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1790\" alt=\"TheChill.ca\" src=\"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/thechill-ca.png\" width=\"575\" height=\"100\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/thechill-ca.png 575w, https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/thechill-ca-300x52.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 575px) 100vw, 575px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><!--more-->The Toronto Chill is actually a twist on the traditional &#8220;polar dip&#8221; where Chillers jump into a custom-built pool filled with icy cold water. This will be Canada\u2019s largest urban polar bear dip! Of course, you can warm up afterwards at the hot-tub.\u00a0\u00a0As well, there will be live entertainment, a free breakfast, hot chocolate, light food from local restaurants, a fastest snowball throwing contest, family photos, face-painting and more! <a href=\"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/chill-zone.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-1788\" alt=\"chill zone\" src=\"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/chill-zone.jpg?w=584\" width=\"584\" height=\"425\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/chill-zone.jpg 1600w, https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/chill-zone-300x218.jpg 300w, https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/chill-zone-1024x745.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Anyone can register online as an individual or group through <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thechill.ca\">www.thechill.ca<\/a>. You can register a family of up to 5 people for one registration of $40 which includes all of the activities mentioned above.
