Okay, I&#8217;m always in the mood for shopping, but more so now&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a list of my favourite items (along with some input from my other mommy friends)\u00a0that I think every parent\u00a0of a newborn should have:<\/p>\n<p>1. Velcro swaddle.\u00a0 Kyle was a great sleeper and I attribute this to the fact that we swaddled him consistently.\u00a0 In fact, we kept swaddling him until he was 6 months old!\u00a0 A bit longer than most people would like to admit to, but hey, it worked (for all of us). Another one recommended by my friend is the Miracle Blanket which may be just as cozy as that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.in2green.com\/collections\/baby-throws\">baby blanket by In2Green<\/a>.<a href=\"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/swaddleme-cotton-knit-mocha-dots.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1496\" title=\"SwaddleMe-Cotton-Knit-(Mocha-Dots)\" src=\"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/swaddleme-cotton-knit-mocha-dots.png?w=279\" alt=\"\" width=\"279\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/swaddleme-cotton-knit-mocha-dots.png 559w, https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/swaddleme-cotton-knit-mocha-dots-279x300.png 279w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 279px) 100vw, 279px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><!--more-->2. Aden + Anais Muslin blankets.\u00a0 Not only are they super soft, thin and breathable, but they have multiple uses including: stroller cover, nursing shield, summertime blanket, change table cover, and portable crib sheets.\u00a0\u00a0Kyle is just over two years of age and we still use it.\u00a0 I can&#8217;t wait to get the bamboo ones for our second child. In fact, I swear by anything made by Aden + Anais including their burp clothes and baby sleep sacks.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/adenanais.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1493\" title=\"aden&amp;anais\" src=\"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/adenanais.jpg?w=243\" alt=\"\" width=\"243\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/adenanais.jpg 280w, https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/adenanais-243x300.jpg 243w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 243px) 100vw, 243px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>3.\u00a0Hooter\u00a0hider \/\u00a0Bebe au Lait.\u00a0 My favourite nursing cover that allows your to easily see your baby as they feed while hiding all of the important stuff.\u00a0 It&#8217;s easy to put on and off and even after several washes, it holds its shape.<a href=\"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/bebeaulait.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1494\" title=\"bebeaulait\" src=\"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/bebeaulait.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/bebeaulait.png 225w, https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/bebeaulait-150x150.png 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>4. White noise machine.\u00a0 Our favourite was the Sleep Sheep on the Go.\u00a0 White noise is very soothing for new-born\u00a0babies and we found that the sleep sheep helped prolong\u00a0Kyle&#8217;s naps.\u00a0 We also didn&#8217;t have to worry about tiptoeing\u00a0around him while he was napping.\u00a0 Small enough to take along for long rides or overnight away from home.\u00a0 It can also be washed!! Other white noise machines noted by my friends include: Obus Forme sound machine.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/sleepsheeponthego.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1495\" title=\"sleepsheeponthego\" src=\"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/sleepsheeponthego.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"248\" height=\"194\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>5. Baby carrier.\u00a0 When Kyle was a new-born, nothing soothed him more than being carried around.\u00a0 We had the Baby Bjorn and loved it (as did Kyle).\u00a0 At the time, I didn&#8217;t know much about wraps and so I never used one.\u00a0 I have since one a lot of reading on it, and realized how many benefits there are to wraps (vs. traditional carriers).\u00a0 I can&#8217;t wait to use the MonkeyWear Wrap (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.monkeywear.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">http:\/\/www.monkeywear.ca<\/a>) with our second baby.\u00a0 Some other carriers \/ wraps noted by my friends include: Beco butterfly II, Ergo, Moby, and Je Porte Mon Bebe wrap. <a href=\"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/2012\/12\/13\/my-favourite-things-for-newborn-babies\/monkeywear\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1621\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1621\" src=\"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/monkeywear.jpg?w=286\" alt=\"monkeywear\" width=\"286\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/monkeywear.jpg 352w, https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/monkeywear-286x300.jpg 286w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 286px) 100vw, 286px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>6.\u00a0 Baby swing.\u00a0 When Kyle was a baby, he was a terrible napper.\u00a0 It seemed that the only way he&#8217;ll nap was in a swing.\u00a0 Luckily, my parents bought us an awesome electric swing.\u00a0 It provided me with some &#8220;free&#8221; time, even if he didn&#8217;t nap; he was usually content just being in it.\u00a0 We have the I-Glide Baby Swing &amp; Glider.\u00a0 Some others recommended by my friends include: fisher price rock n swing, fisher price little lamb<br \/>\nswing, Snugabunny\u00a0swing, and Graco forest friends.<a href=\"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/2012\/12\/13\/my-favourite-things-for-newborn-babies\/babyswing\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1620\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1620\" src=\"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/babyswing.jpg?w=300\" alt=\"babyswing\" width=\"300\" height=\"218\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/babyswing.jpg 550w, https:\/\/mayahoodblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/babyswing-300x218.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>My favourite response to my question of &#8220;what are some of your &#8216;must-have&#8217; products for newborns?&#8221; was by the only male friend who responded.\u00a0 He stated: <span style=\"color: #ff6600; text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>A wife, earplugs, and booze.<\/strong> <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> LOVE IT!!!\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p>What are some of your favourite must-have&#8217;s for newborns?\u00a0Do you agree or disagree with my list?\u00a0 I&#8217;d love to hear from you!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I may not be Oprah (okay, I&#8217;m nowhere near like Oprah), but I have\u00a0my own list of favourite things.\u00a0 Specifically, for newborn babies.\u00a0 With the holiday season upon us, and the birth of our second child around the corner, it got me in the mood for some shopping!
