“Hurray – we change the clocks this weekend” said no parent ever!

While some people may look forward to the extra hour of sleep, or get upset by losing an hour of sleep, for parents, it’s all the same. The hour change either way really seems to mess up my kids’ sleep routine which usually means that I’ll be dealing with tired, grumpy and moody kids for a few days until they adjust.

If nothing more, the change in time and additional day light provides parents with a reminder to complete important tasks. Together with my friends at Church & Dwight, we’ve compiled a list of some activities to complete this Spring. Print them out and put them on your fridge (or calendar). You will want to do them quarterly.

Replace toothbrushes: The Canadian Dental Association recommends you change your toothbrush every three months[1]. Put a reminder (or emoji) in your phone and / or calendar at the start of every third month of the year to remind you to buy new brushes for your family.

Check medicine expiry dates: Remember that all medicines expire, including vitamins and supplements. To ensure your medicine cabinet is up to date, schedule a simple calendar reminder for twice a year. This will remind you to check the expiry date and re-stock, if necessary.
