Wordless Wednesday – Modeling behaviour

This is my first ever Wordless Wednesday post.  I captured this image (regretfully, not a video) of my son multi-tasking last night. He was cleaning up and “on a call.”

When I asked my son how he was coming along,  he said “This is my last call…. then I can play with my kids!”  He nearly broke my heart… it was so sweet.  It’s what my husband says to him daily before he ends his workday (he works from home). When his “call” (i.e. pacing back and forth with the phone to his ear not saying a word) was over, he went and placed his phone on the table and came to the toy area.

I learned two important things from this:
1) Model the behaviour you want to see in your kids (i.e. be in the moment, put the phone away when you play with your children) AND
2) Young minds are VERY impressionable.  They are sponges (cliché, I know, but it’s TRUE). modeling behaviour
