Does anyone else feel like this has been the longest winter ever? I know my family sure does! The current trending saying at our house is “We’re done with winter!” The winter in Canada this year has broken records, but not in a good way. It’s been one of the coldest in my lifetime… even Niagara Falls froze over.
Luckily, the weather is getting “warmer”. It was 2 degrees this past weekend and we wanted to take advantage of the weather and wish winter goodbye. A few outdoor rinks are still open, so we went to skate around and play some hockey. While my son plays indoor hockey almost 5 hours every day, it feels more rewarding when he does it on the ice. Did I mention that he’s only three years old and he dreams of playing in the NHL? (True Story).
While I hung out with my one year old son, my husband skated around and practiced hockey with my preschooler. Using my HP Slate 8 Pro, which is small enough to hold in one hand, I was able to capture some great videos of them taking advantage of the last few days (hopefully) of winter. The HP Slate 8 Pro has an 8MP, auto-focus with LED camera that’s great for capturing our family memories. When choosing a tablet or phone, the number one criteria for me is ensuring that it produces good quality pictures and videos reliably. It also has to be lightweight and fit perfectly in my purse for when we’re on the go.
One of the activities that we have planned over March break is to make a photo collage of all of the winter fun that we’ve had. While we can’t wait for Winter to be over, we did try to take full advantage of it while it was here. My son is very fascinated with our HP Printer and he loves using it whenever he can. Together we’ll select some of our favourite winter pictures and make a collage. My son is also slightly obsessed with “Show and Tell” in his nursery class so I know he’ll be excited to bring his finished product to proudly showcase to his friends and teachers.

I know everyone’s complaining about how they wish Winter would go away already, but I’m actually embracing it! We’ve been checking out the ice caves, going tobogganing and snowshoeing…and just having fun in the snow! Yes, I’m that annoying person who says, “when life hands you lemons, make lemonade!” In this case, when Canadian winters give us snow, make snow angels? LOL! Plus, even though I have Caribbean and Filipino blood, I don’t fare well in extreme heat! LOL In a few months I’ll be asking for A/C!

I do love the snow, but the extreme cold is not needed, LOL. I love that it has been a great winter, but I am ready for it to end. Too much of a good thing… 🙂
