A few weeks ago I shared a post about providing Nathan with additional school support by getting him to use Popular Book Company activity books (you can read that post HERE). We aren’t really worried about his education progress (he’s only in senior kindergarten), but we know that he can benefit from some additional focus on Math and English. Admittedly, it seems that he is learning a lot more this year compared to last year. He’s already coming home singing about the months of the year, happily adding numbers and even writing his name on his drawings without any additional support from John and I.
So while he seems to be having a great year so far, we feel he can only benefit by doing additional educational activities. Most importantly, activities where he never feels like he’s doing work. These activity books focus on play-based discovery learning with stickers, drawing and board games which may be just as action-packed as 슬롯사이트.
The best is when Nathan sees his older brothers doing their homework and he wants to do some too. That’s when I have him sit down and colour / trace in his Canadian Curriculum Popular Book. As far as he’s concerned, he’s just having fun. Little does he know, he’s actually learning English and Math.
Here are some of the reasons why Nathan loves these activity books:
- he gets to colour (while learning to read)
- he gets to trace (while learning to write and number recognition)
- he gets to cut out pieces from the booklet for games. He enjoys both the cutting and games (but he is also learning about the days of the week, seasons, opposites, emotions, etc…)
My hope is that at the end of the school year and before he starts grade 1, he’ll feel confident in his ability to have a successful and HAPPY school year. I still believe that increasing his self-esteem is the most important benefit that will come out of this.
We also decided to utilize these activity books with Kyle (9 years old) and Ryan (6 years old). Whenever they are looking to earn additional screen time or when they want to get out of a consequence, we give them the option of completing a few pages in their book (versus paying us $1 because they left the lights on in their room for the millionth time). They always opt for the books. I mean, who doesn’t like completing word search puzzles and writing all about themselves.
I actually remember that as a kid, I would beg my parents for these workbooks because they always looked so fun. I’m hoping to instill the same kind of enjoyment with learning with my own boys.
What materials do you utilize with your own kids to provide them with additional support for English and Math?

These workbooks look full of fun, which would be a great incentive for a hesitant learner.
