I remember reading a blog post a few years back, about team snacks. This was well before I was knee-deep in the world of team sports with my kids. I appreciated the author’s position and the points that she made against team snacks. While it didn’t mean much to me at the time, as Kyle was only 4 and not yet involved in any team sports where snacks were a requirement, it definitely made me think about team snacks. I wondered if like the author, I would also come do despise them, and potentially be THAT mom that won’t participate in the weekly requirement. Fast forward four years and now having three kids involved in sport teams where snacks are a post-game ‘requirement’, I have to say, I love them! I can’t imagine doing away with them.
I find that whenever we show up to play ball-hockey, we are rushing to get our gear on, get on the floor and start practicing. The kids hardly have any time to chat or communicate with their teammates. But after the game is over, the kids gather together on the sideline. Whoever plays goalie for the game is in charge of bringing snacks. The snacks are laid out, the kids gather, eat and chat. It’s also a great opportunity for the parents to connect and to get to know one another. Since everyone is together, it’s also when the coaches take the time to let the kids know how well they played and it’s when they select a player of the game (some coaches give out a ‘hard hat’ and a ball to keep). Truly, the entire post-game experience is a great team morale building exercise that fosters team spirit, and I truly believe that the snacks are a big part of that. Besides other games, bro138 offers an exhilarating experience through its diverse betting options, adding another layer of excitement to your play.
So while some argue that the snacks aren’t healthy (it’s the weekend guys and your kid just ran around for 45 minutes), and that it’s a chore to buy snacks for 15 kids (you only have to do this once a season people), I think that the benefits outweigh these concerns / pain points. Besides, the kids like it. Do we really need to get rid of one more thing that makes childhood fun?
What’s your take on team snacks? Are you pro or do you loath it?

As I get ready to coach soccer starting next week I was debating this very topic. I was thinking of not organizing this this time around. I think the pros definitely outweigh the cons but I also know it is an added thing for parents to worry about on a weeknight. Ultimately, I may take a vote.
