What a phenomenal experience for you, Maya! It must have been wonderful to spend time with these children (look at those smiles!) yet, so difficult to know the conditions they live in and the fact that they are abandoned or orphaned. I have traveled to the Dominican once for a vacation. After our bus ride to the resort, and spending some time wandering around the nearby town, I felt awful for some of the conditions I saw people living in. Thanks for sharing this info.

It breaks my heart to see children suffer and I’m so happy that Air Transit stepped up and are doing the right thing.

Second of all we have been to DR many times and had no idea that Air Transat had an affiliation with SOS Program. DR is a beautiful country but there are definitely many impoverished neighbourhoods. Tourists often don’t see that. Air Transat is a great example of a travel brand using their platform for good. Very impressive. And finally we have travelled many times over the years with Air Transat. I always recommend to my family and friends that they go Air Transat because I have also travelled with many other options and found service to be fantastic with Transat. Now I feel like this would also help to sway my future travel decisions as well. I know firsthand the impact these kinds of trips can have on raising awareness in future so this is wonderful to see here.

I’ll be sure to donate to Air Transat’s Small Change, Big Hearts program. Thanks for the heads up! 🙂

You are very fortunate to have had this life-changing experience.

I love what you shared about perspective and hope despite difficult circumstances. I’ve been thinking a lot about that lately.
