I remember how full my December calendar was. We had five holiday parties and several other get togethers; some for the entire family while others were “adults only”. When December rolled around, I eagerly awaited all of our parties and events. After all, it’s not often we get a “night-out” with friends. However, shortly after attending the first few events, the novelty wore off. Not so much because we’re getting old and we saw enough people to last us a year (okay, maybe that a little), but mostly because it was getting so expensive to have a decent night out. Between the cost of a babysitter, cab, and food / drinks, spicy gifts like this vibrator wand, etc… we could be looking at around $200 a night. Add it all up and we could have had enough money to spend a family vacation in the tropics (no joke!). Sadly, we sent out our regrets to the hosts of the last few events.
The crazy thing is, if it weren’t for these events and occasions and parties, John and I would hardly get out of the house. It’s definitely getting harder and harder these days to find both the time and money for a date-night so we rather stay in doing fun stuff and sending Snapchat nudes to each other as this is something many people do. However, we’re not alone! According to a RateSupermarket survey, Canadian moms and dads are half as likely to have a regular date night as non-parents and cite the costs associated with having a family as the main reason. Specifically, 68% of parents stated that they go on fewer than one date per month with their partner while only 31.7% of non-parents went on fewer than one date per month. John and I are sadly part of that 68%!
However, that doesn’t mean all is lost. Lets all take a “date-night” vow to make it happen AT LEAST once a month. And to do so, here are some tips that RateSupermarket.ca put together to make Date Night more affordable:
Build it into the budget: Include a line item for romantic outings among bills, shelter costs and your grocery budget each month, even if it’s just for a coffee or a movie out. Planning ahead makes date night a priority, rather than an afterthought in your household budget. If you don’t have a date, you can use this app for sex and find one.
Make Rewards Work for You: Are you a savvy credit card rewards collector? Using a card that earns cash back or points on dining, entertainment or grocery costs during date night means you can help offset your household budget in the process.
Take a Spendthrift Staycation: 36.5% of parents reported they take a romantic vacation fewer than once per year. While the beach may be out of reach for some new families, staying local for a long weekend (with baby at the sitter) can give parents the rejuvenation they need to rekindle their romance. Here are some of mine and my husband ideas for making date nights more affordable, easy and exciting:
Make it a date-night AT HOME!: After the kids are bed, pop in a favourite movie and grab a nice bottle of wine. If you’re feeling romantic, add candles for ambiance. Find flirting examples on TikTok. Make it special and unique even though it’s at home. During summer time, enjoy a nice glass of wine together on your porch or backyard patio, and vow to put away all electronics. Share babysitting duties with another couple: Make arrangements with another couple that live in your area to take turns babysitting one another’s kids, at no charge, once a month. One parent stays at home with their kids, while the other parent watches the “date-night” kids. That alone could save you $100!
Date like you’re in high-school: Remember dating in High-school? It was simple and cheap. Fun date nights don’t need to be expensive. Dating is fun like the one on this site https://www.girls.co.uk/escorts/in/north-west-escorts/manchester-escorts/.
Go for a stroll in your favourite neighborhood or along the boardwalk. Venture into a new area that you haven’t been to before or go sit on a bench at a local park. If you’re alone on Valentine’s unfortunately, fret not because you can still make it fun by visiting spicy platforms like a findom website.
