Where to Shop for Stylish Fashion at Affordable Prices

While I enjoy shopping for almost anything, groceries included, my favourite things to buy are clothes. Before kids, I almost spent all of my money on new clothes for myself. After kids, I mostly bought just for the kids. However, since I’ve managed to lose most of my baby weight and am now comfortable in my own skin and shape, I’m once again finding joy in shopping for myself.

Long ago I learned a couple valuable lessons about clothes shopping. The first, buy quality clothes! Just because something is inexpensive, it doesn’t mean that you should buy it. You’ll probably end up spending more than twice the amount to repair or replace the item.  The other thing is to buy clothes that will last you through more than one season! While it’s often tempting to buy a whole new wardrobe full of pieces that are currently “IN”, you will end up spending a lot of money constantly replenishing.  Of course, style is still important and saving money is still important, so how do I balance all criteria? I find stylish fashion at affordable prices.

When I first walked into Giant Tiger, I was skeptical about finding outfits, for an upcoming trip to Hawaii, that would fit my style. However, with the help of someone with a keen eye for fashion, by the time I left, I had a shopping cart full of clothes that I had to sort through. I settled on four outfits. Each one with versatile pieces that I can dress up or wear casually and that I can easily interchange with other pieces I already have in my closet. The first outfit, designed by Lily Morgan, I wore for an evening event in Hawaii. The pants are soft and comfortable like joggers, but when you add a nice top and some heels, it transforms into a dressy outfit. The tank top is reversible and is great for traveling because it can be worn twice, appearing as two separate pieces.

A few years ago, I bought a similar, look-alike reversible top, but for more than twice the cost! The entire outfit, including the shoes and clutch, was under $55!! The best part? All of the following outfits cost even less.

The second outfit, by mySTYLE, is perfect for exploring, whether it’s in an exotic place like the Big Island Hawaii or in your own town. It also works great for attending a spring / summer event like a baby shower. The white capri pants fit perfectly and the pastel colours are a great way to freshen-up your look for the season. The short sleeve drape front cardigan is a beautifully designed, versatile piece that’s perfect for layering when traveling or when you need to move between the outdoors into air conditioned places.

The third outfit is perfect for a warm summer’s day whether you’re busy chasing your kids around in the playground or relaxing on your back deck. While I typically don’t wear shorts, I liked these because of its length and how it fit my thighs and hips.  It’s so comfortable to wear and it doesn’t have a zipper or button, you just pull it up! The bright pop of colour makes it fun and playful but also a little dressier. I matched it with a white tank with lace detailing along the bottom. However, if I’m planning on spending time with my kids (which I normally do), I’ll probably wear it with a graphic or dark coloured top instead.

However, my favourite part about this outfit are the shoes, which may be just as fabulous as those black fashion shoes for womens. These flats aren’t only colourful and stylish, but they are super comfortable. I will pretty much live in them all summer long.  I’ve already worn them several times!

I also picked up an awesome workout outfit from ACX Active to help me get motivated to start running again. I’ve been meaning to do it for a while now but haven’t found the motivation. I hope that the nicer weather and my new workout gear will help me get going.
