This past March 8th was a day most parents loath. Like clockwork, it comes every year. Actually… twice, and it’s called daylight savings time. We might have changed the clocks forward one hour, but for the majority of parents with young kids, it created a big change in their children’s sleeping behaviour. Setting the clocks one hour ahead is often refereed to as Spring forward, but here in Toronto the effects of winter continue to linger. Unfortunately this includes my kids health. Without a lie, the morning after daylight savings time, my two youngest sons woke up with a cold. Mostly, it was a runny and stuffy nose. Either way, it’s not a great way to ring in spring. As a parent, you hate seeing your kids in any form of pain, even if it’s just the sniffles. After all, we all know that a lot of sniffles means a lot of nose wipes, which means, dry nose and unhappy kids.
Luckily, Kandoo has a great line of products that helps make this tough period a little better for your little ones. Instead of using a dry tissue to wipe your children’s nose, you should try using Boogie Wipes. Boogie Wipes are made with saline, are super soft and are lightly scented. We tried the Grape and Fresh scent, which were a big hit with my kids. In fact, my middle son Ryan was eager to use them over and over, almost excessively. Either way, I was happy that there wasn’t a struggle to get him to wipe his nose. I now keep the large box of Boogie Wipes on the main floor of our house accessible to my sons and I carry a travel-size (45 count) packet in my purse. Even though my son’s cold is now history, he still gets a runny nose here and there, including this past weekend when we spent hours playing outdoors. Luckily, I had my boogie wipes with me and my son was more than happy to comply with my request to wipe his nose.
While I used the Boogie Wipes on both my two-year-old and my newborn, I also used the Boogie Mist to clear up my six month old’s nose. It was often runny but every morning I found that it was stuffed up and crusty which made it difficult for him to breath properly. To help ease his pain, I sprayed the “Schnozzle” saline mist into his nostrils. I totally love the name of the spray by the way… anyone else use the term Schnozzle? We do! Anyway, I digress… I have to say that compared to other saline mists, this one was slightly easier to use which is key because babies are fidgety. The Schnozzle spray is non-medicated, natural, and suitable for all ages.
