Think back to your childhood. What shoes did you wear? For me, it was SKECHERS. They were stylish, comfortable and affordable. It was pretty much the only branded shoe I could convince my parents to buy me. I loved them so much that I wore them well into my early adulthood. In fact, I wore SKECHERS (that didn’t have shoelaces) for my first half-marathon over 10 years ago!! While not advisable, I made it to the end!
That being said, I haven’t worn SKECHERS since then but I know the brand is as popular as ever so I was excited to receive a pair for everyone in my family. I honestly didn’t realize how many different styles and looks were available. There were even some great options for running! I probably spent a good hour just perusing the website to select a pair for myself. In fact, I couldn’t narrow it down to just one.
I also took it upon myself to select a new pair for my sons. While I would normally ask my kids for their input to ensure that they like something and will wear it, I figured that if it lights up when you walk and comes in bright colours, or includes anything Star Wars, they would like it.
Of course I was right. Even though these were meant to be their new back-to-school shoes, the boys insist on wearing them EVERY DAY! Even if it’s 30+ degrees. Kids are funny, but they know what they want and like!
On a serious note, I will admit that I don’t often buy branded shoes for my kids. After they wreck the second pair only a few months into the new year, I can’t be bothered to spend a large amount of money to replace their shoes. But I do want to get them at least one good quality pair at the beginning of each school year. I really believe that wearing a good pair of quality shoes makes a big difference to their developing feet. That’s why I was eager to partner up with SKECHERS. While we haven’t had much time to test them out, the best indicator for me has been the fact that my kids want to wear their new shoes every day, without exception. They’re obviously comfortable and fun!
Did I mention that my husband got a pair too? I think his SKECHERS Sycamore might be my favourite, but it’s hard to choose; They are all so unique.
Finally I have to mention how comfortable my shoes are. As a busy mom, that is always on the go, comfort is key. It helps that the shoes are super cute too. They fit great immediately and I didn’t need to “wear them in” (aka no blisters). Another bonus is that my SKECHERS burst – alter ego will take me from Summer through Fall (yay for savings)!
My love affair with SKECHERS has officially been rekindled. Now the hardest part will be choosing which pair to get next!

My boys are four (five in two weeks) and six years old. They will both be in school this year so they need inside and outside sneakers, winter boots, rain boots, sandals, dress shoes and then if their feet grow (and they always do) they need even more! We live in a small, rural town, so finding good quality, affordable, comfortable shoes that the boys will actually wear can be tough!

My older child seems to only go up one shoe size per year, so for her I usually buy about 9 pairs per year – 1 pair of flip flops (or 2 if I get a really good deal), 1 pair of dress shoes, 1 pair of winter boots, 1 pair of running shoes, 1 pair of rain boots, 2 pairs of casual sneakers, 1 pair of sandals, and 1 pair of basketball shoes. My younger daughter goes through at least 2 sizes a year though – her feet are so big compared to what her sister’s were at the same age!! I don’t buy that much for her though – she wears her sister’s hand me downs for the sandals, dress shoes and winter boots since they don’t get worn much, and so far the same goes for the rain boots (the bigger sizes I will have to buy her new ones though since once her sister went to school they got more worn out). She doesn’t wear flip flops yet, so really I just buy her 2 pairs of sneakers in each size each year.
