Just last week I experienced a rare moment of alone time as my oldest was in school and miraculously, both of my other boys were napping at the same time. The dishes were piling up in the kitchen sink and the table was a mess, riddled with food and dirty plates leftover from lunch.  I glanced over the mess on one side, and the comfortable, empty, quiet couch on the other side.  To clean or relax; the modern day question battled daily by moms everywhere.  Logically (or not), I choose the latter.  Cleaning, can wait but free alone time is rare.

The truth is, I have a love-hate relationship with cleaning.  I can’t stand a dirty house, but I’d often rather do ANYTHING but clean.  So much so that we hired a cleaning lady to come once a month. While my husband and I tend to the daily mess and keep the counters clean and the floor swept, we get her to do a deep-clean of everything else.  In fact, I stand by my statement that hiring a cleaning person tops my list of how to have a successful marriage. However, this post is not about unsolicited marriage advice. Rather, it’s about cleaning and how to make it enjoyable because even though we don’t want to clean the house, we have to.

In my opinion, one of the most important cleaning equipment that everyone should own is a good vacuum.  Not only does it make cleaning faster and swifter, it actually makes it FUN!  There, I’ve said, cleaning can be fun…. with the right vacuum that is. I’ve always owned a canister vacuum that required a bag.  I disliked these vacuums for so many reasons.  They were costly, bulky, inconsistent in their cleaning job and I could never find a replacement bag when I needed one. Luckily, the vacuum industry has evolved and changed with the times, and thanks to advancements in technology, vacuums have come a long way in the twenty first century.   I was provided with the opportunity to try out the new Samsung Motion Sync upright, bagless vacuum and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it.  Before I give you the low-down, I’ll just start by letting you know that my old vacuum already has a new home!

Here’s some of my favourite features of the vacuum:

The upright design has a nice wide cleaning strip. I found that this vacuum does a better job at deep-cleaning my carpets due to its strong suction. We recently did some renovations in our basement due to a water leak and the carpet was full of sawdust.  I was so pleased with the way the Samsung vacuumed all of the little particles, I felt comfortable knowing my sons would be lying, sitting and rolling around there the next day.

I’ve also found that the Samsung upright vacuum is much easier to store.  One of my favourite features is the fully detachable handheld that makes it easy to clean and reach those tough to clean spots like between the couch cushions and the top of curtains.  While  our entire basement is carpeted, the remainder of the house is covered with timber flooring. The Samsung vacuum works just as well on the wood floors as it does on carpets which makes cleaning a breeze. In fact, the vacuum nozzle sits low on the ground, making it ideal for cleaning wood floors. I also found that his vacuum was much quieter compared to my previous vacuum which is a nice bonus because somehow, whenever I vacuum, one of kids is asleep.

While the vacuum is slightly on the heavier side, the large wheels make it easy to maneuver around the floor. Also, the suction is very strong that on certain rugs, you might need to use full force to get the vacuum to move back and forth. Overall, it’s not a bad workout and at least you know it’s working hard to clean up properly.  It’s amazing to see what the Samsung picked up in just a few vacuums.  Makes me think about how much dirt my old vacuum was leaving behind (gross!).

    I think that the strong suction would have to be my favourite feature as well, as we are doing some renovations and there is a lot of drywall dust and sawdust from this so it would be great if we could pick it all up.

    I love that it is bagless and that it has such strong suction. Our carpets are older and I know my old vacuum isnt getting all the dust and dirt it should out of them. I have been looking for a new vacuu, but have been stuck not knowing which one to choose as there as so many choices and it is so hard to know what works without trying them.     For me I have always wanted a handheld since our last one broke 6 years ago but we just never got around to it because who needs more cleaning supplies. I really like that this comes together, the fact that it is bagless is great too as it is easier to keep clean in the end. Thanks for the great review Maya. We love the Samsung brand in our house and have swapped out our whole kitchen, washing machine and phones to them. We are slowly replacing our smaller appliances and household things for them as well because they truly have stood up to extraordinary circumstances with our family

    Easy storage appeals to me because I don’ t have a lot of extra storage in my flat. I like that it sits lower than other vacuum cleaners because that is great for floors and low pile rugs and carpets too!

    It’s great that the nozzle sits low to the ground & that it works just as well on floors as it does on carpets, because I have both, & it’s a pain to keep changing the setting to suit each area. The best part truly is that it’s made by Samsung, who I have a high respect for their products. My TV & phone are Samsung & it’s a high quality brand.

    I also love that is has a fully detachable handheld handle as well as the strong suction. I have a dog that sheds like crazy and his hair is everywhere. I so need a vacuum that works…I am using a cheap one that makes me have to vacuum over and over on the same areas!

    I love that it isn’t mine lol! JK My vacuum is embarrassing and I still use dirty, gross bags! I love that the Samsung Motion Sync is bag-less and multi-purpose. I have to pull out my vacuum (if you ca even call it that) for my carpets and a swifter vac for my hardwoods.     I like that it’s bagless and has a wide cleaning strip with strong suction. Bagless is so much more convenient than using bags. The Samsung Motion Sync vacuum is pretty cool with some awesome features. I wish I had one that cleans as well as this. Thanks for the review, I’ll keep it in mind while shopping for my next vacuum.

    My favourite feature is that its bagless. This looks awesome. Currently, I am using a broom as my vacuum broke so you can imagine the state of our carpets (5 sons, 2 cats, messy hubby who eats in the living room on the sofa every day lol). Thanks for the chance.

    I like that it sits low to the ground so that it is good at cleaning hard floors. My house has mostly hard floors and most vacuums just toss dirt around because they don’t go low enough.

    I love that it’s relatively quiet. Not only for napping kiddos, but because our dog’s nemesis is the vacuum. So when it’s on, he’s loud and aggitated. Something quieter could def help that.

    I’m kind of a small person so for me the best feature is the detachable handheld component. It’s so hard for me to lift the entire vacuum to clean the hard to reach areas or high corners.

    I love the fact that it has a detachable handheld! I remember growing up with a handvac and how fun it was to clean up while being a kid! It would not only make my son want to help, but it will make my life much easier! Plus, with all the small crevices we have in the house, it will help getting to the smallest & farthest particle of dirt!
