Retail therapy – it’s a thing. At least for me. On Tuesday I went shopping… in a mall… to buy things for myself! Each of those things independently would be amazing but the fact that all three of them happened is unbelievable. Because let’s be real, dragging three boys under the age of 6 to the mall for shopping that doesn’t involve toys is pretty much a nightmare! Weekends are dedicated family time and malls just close too early (yes, 9PM is too early because by the time I put my kids to bed and drive myself to the nearest mall I’ll have time to park, get a coffee, and that’s pretty much it). However, this past month has been probably one of the most stressful times of my life, so I made it a priority to get some Retail Therapy and get all my over due shopping done at once.
I went to check out Erin Mills Town Centre in Mississauga. It was my first time at this mall and I was really looking forward to seeing everything that it had to offer. I was honestly immediately impressed. It has a nice open space, with lots of natural light coming in from the centre of the mall!
I also have to note the LARGE bathroom – which means no lineups – women everywhere, rejoice! The other great feature was that they had a separate nursing room. This may seem like a standard feature, but I have to note that when I had Kyle over six years ago, a nursing room in a mall was a rarity (unfortunately).
I was actually on a specific shopping mission. You see, we’re headed to Hawaii and I needed some outfits for our trip including a new bathing suit. Here’s a tip: when you’re in the mall for the first time in FOREVER, don’t make your first stop at a store you used to shop at as a teen or a store that your mom shops in. That’s not to say that you won’t find anything in those stores, but just don’t start there. Rookie mistake by me, but lessons learned. So after a bad start, things went really well. Almost TOO well. I ended up blowing my budget, but in a good way. I walked away with so many great new outfits, including a new pair of summer shoes, a hat and a bathing suite!
My favourite stores there were RW&CO, Dynamite, Hudson Bay and Suzy Shier. However, there were so many other great stores there that I didn’t even have time to check out. I’ll have to save it for another trip I guess!
After a full day of shopping I headed straight to the newly renovated food court. You won’t have a problem finding a seat, or something to eat here. There were tons of options to select from including healthy ones. Grab a seat by the large open window overlooking the city and enjoy your meal. It’s a perfect way to end a great shopping day!
