Valentines Day is just around the corner. In the past (or should I say, pre-kids), this used to be a fun day for me and my husband. We took the effort to buy each-other small gifts and celebrate a night-out. For better or worse, that all changed once we had kids. While we certainly still love each other and would love a night-out sans kids, reality is, Valentines Day now means something else to us. It’s now a family day. No more nice dinners or small gifts. Rather, it’s a day where we get to spoil and shower our kids with love (even though we pretty much do that every day).
This year, my oldest son is in nursery school and the school welcomed the concept of having the kids hand out Valentines Day cards to one another. I think it’s a great idea because it’s a great way to show others that you care about them but also, it’s a perfect opportunity to get my son to practice writing (haha – I’m such a mom!). Since I received my HP Photosmart printer, I don’t have purchase cards, I can print them out at home. Snapfish has a great selection of Valentines Day themed cards including Dinasours, Unicorns, Woodland and Zoo friends. You can make print-at-home cards, candy boxes and even mail boxes. My son and I chose the Animal Love Valentine’s Day Cards and lollipop cards to give out to his friends at school. Not only are they cute and colourful, but it’s a fun indoor activity to do with my son on a cold winter’s day.
Of course, I can’t forget about my husband completely. I decided to make him a personalized Valentine’s Day card, also on Snapfish, using some recent family pictures. The whole process took less than 5 minutes to complete between selecting the pictures, uploading them and printing. It couldn’t have been easier.
Any other kid friendly valentines day ideas?

Very cute! We might still need a few of these. I have a feeling we are short on numbers and the kids didn’t realize that.
