When I was planning my baby registry the first time around I asked some other moms for their opinions. I wanted them to tell me their must-have products and some items I can do without. One of the moms mentioned that I don’t need to bother getting a diaper disposal unit; so I didn’t. While I was mostly fine for the first five months of Kyle’s life (when he was exclusively breastfeeding), the need for a proper diaper disposal unit became more apparent after we started him on solids. We rushed to Walmart and purchased a Diaper Genie. The pail and bag system is simple and easy to use. I even let my husband take the lead emptying role.
Since that time (almost five years ago), I received a different diaper disposal system to try out. It was a sleek design and it was built in such a way that you could use any plastic bag that you already have at home. After my review was over, I couldn’t wait to start using the Diaper Genie again. While the other system promised to lock-in odors, it did not. It’s also easy enough to find Diaper Genie bag refills at most stores and I love that I can get them at Costco too.
Recently, Playtex upgraded the Diaper Genie pail we’ve all grown to love and use. The new Elite pail has sleek design, a front tilt opening, comes with an unscented refill carbon filter and comes in a variety of colours (pink, blue, gray and white) but is still easy to use and locks in odor as well as the previous model. Personally, I’m a big fan of gray and I love how it looks in our house.

This would be great to have, I haven’t had one before, and my partner is very “sensitive” to changing our son’s diapers and always complaining of the smell!! Plus we pay for garbage here and it adds up. So the idea of compacting the diapers means less garbage, and less money. Plus it is much better for the environment!
