In reply to Sleepy Owl Co.. We are from Buffalo, NY and are headed to Barcelo Bavaro in a few months...4 adults and 4 kids ages 7-11. I found this blog looking for reviewers similar to me. We also looked at the Royalton and I hope I didn't make the wrong decision. Any advice for us? There are so many mixed reviews. I was concerned about the size of the resort, the smoking and the food mostly!

Looks like a beautiful resort. Can’t wait until our next family vacation, though sadly won’t be this year.

Your trip sounds heavenly! I must admit, I’ve never considered a Mexican destination because I’ve heard of so many instances of stomach maladies from contaminated ice cubes, etc. Seeing your family enjoy it makes me want to check it out.

I can’t wait to hear about where you plan on going next year!

We have stayed here as well and the kids loved it! The shows were amazing and the great thing is that they do a pre-show for the kids which you don’t find often in other resorts. My kids HAD to make it to that show every night and danced it up before the “adult” show began. The Royalton resorts are awesome – we are trying the Punta Cana one next. We stayed at the Royalton White Sands in Jamaica and it was lovely.
