Appreciate the feedback and I’m with you re: other Royalton locations. I have a feeling I would LOVE the Mexico one

I travelled to this resort with my teens Feb 13-20/20. We also had a swim out room which was fabulous! I echo your thoughts on customer service (meh). We found they did not respect the ‘do not disturb’ cards placed on door handles. Every single day, 7:55am constant banging on doors for housekeeping got annoying. Having stayed at mostly Royalton resorts in the past 8 ish years (so, around 12 Royalton vacations), this we found to have the worst quality of food. Fruits, veg were good but the meat options were rarely cooked through (burgers raw inside, chicken too), so we eventually opted for the Grazie restaurant where we all found something. We loved our two trips to the Royalton Riviera Cancun (most recently in Aug) the beach was not great but everything else was fantastic. I found the grounds kind of disappointing. There were not the lush plants and flora at the other location in Punta Cana. It all seemed kind of sparse. Would we go back? Nope. Our vacation dollars would be better spent at one of the many we’ve enjoyed. I would personally rank it a 2.5 or a 3/5. Didn’t hate it, didn’t love it.

I’m sorry to hear that your experience left you with such a bad taste overall. We actually flew there with Air Canada. While I would echo your sentiments about the fact that restaurants weren’t open long enough, we would just get room service at those times

Keep in mind, this resort is owned by Sunwing. The issues started with being delayed 12 hours and not getting any compensation from the resort. When asked about this, the answer was, “the resort and flights are owned by Sunwing, but we operate separately” So we lost 1 full day of our expensive vacation without compensation. The food, when open was pretty good. I say when open because the would randomly close alacart restaurants without notice. There were so many negatives at this resort that I could write a novel on it. I wouldn’t go back. Sunwing really let us down overall. We expected more. It wasn’t all bad though. The lazy river was amazing and the cave bar service was incredible. The beach was great until the last day when mother nature took over with sea weed.
