I remember when I had my oldest son Kyle. Besides the haze of becoming a first time parent, I suffered from the baby blues. I had trouble breast feeding and sleep was greatly lacking. I’m sure it’s a story all first time parents can relate to. With becoming a parent, came a whole lot of learning. Isn’t it funny how we spend so much time taking prenatal classes that focus on pregnancy and labour but hardly any of us take parenting classes or newborn classes? It’s as if you need a PhD in parenting these days to manage all of the information available regarding infant safety, sleeping, eating and so on. While some of it is common sense, some things certainly aren’t.
One of the things I didn’t know about was bottle sterilization, until my parent in-laws pointed it out. Most health organizations recommend that you properly sterilize your infant’s bottle every time before use for the first four months of their life when risk of infection is the highest. While an important task, it’s daunting and exhausting, especially when you have a crying baby that just needs to be fed. Or when you’re traveling or just on the go. I remember heading up to the cottage for the Thanksgiving weekend when Kyle was just three weeks old. It felt like we packed a year’s worth of bottle supplies!
While I didn’t know this at the time, Playtex has a perfect product for this exact situation. The Playtex Nurser Baby Bottle with Drop-Ins liners are pre-sterilized, disposable and are perfect for busy parents on the go. The liners collapse like the breast to help prevent air from mixing with the milk and entering baby’s tummy to help reduce colic related discomfort. Another great feature of this bottle is the optional angled design which helps prevent ear infections.
The best part is that the Playtex Nurser Bottle with Drop-Ins retails for $5.99 and is available for purchase at all major retailers in Canada. This is a must have for all new parents!

Hey Maya, although I have never given a milk supplement to any of my babies I have taught my kids to eat from a bottle at a few weeks old. I have never sterilized any of their bottles because I never really saw the importance. Lucky for me, they have grown up nice and healthy. However, I love the Playtex bottle liners for a totally different reason. I use them to store pumped milk. They are thick and strong. They also have space on the bottom to write a date so that when I store the milk I know when it’s from. I’ve found them reasonably priced and for me they have been a great help!!! Highly recommended!
