How did we get here?
Previously, if I was hungry, I would grab the nearest thing in site, or whatever I was craving. HELLOOOOOOOOOOOO CHOCOLATE! In fact, I’m pretty sure I ate for the sake of eating. I wasn’t necessarily hungry so much as I was responding to a Caramilk bar calling my name. Instead of fruit, I reached for candy. You get the point…
What changed?
With the exception of breakfast (which I will get to shortly), I now cook all of our meals from scratch. I know exactly what’s going into our food so I know how many calories and how much sugar we are consuming. Our crisper drawers are so jam packed, that I often have to use our other fridge shelves to store all of the vegetables and fruit. I stopped buying treats that would tempt my husband and I and I started baking for those times when my cravings hit (my muffins are tasty and sweet and are typically all less than 200 calories). Here’s a breakdown of a “typical” meal.
Breakfast: Steal Cut Oats & raisins
Lunch: Eggs, cheese, side of tomatoes & cucumber, and a Greek yogurt
Dinner: Chicken (or fish), steamed broccoli, baked carrots and a salad.
What hasn’t changed
While I would have liked to have exercised more, I was only able to keep up with my goal of exercising twice a week for the first two weeks. Once things got busier it just took a back seat.
We still enjoy our daily dose (or two) of coffee but I’ve changed to using Stevia instead of sugar and in some cases, nothing at all.
I still eat a lot! Three meals a day and snacks. But this time, when cravings hit, I choose differently. Instead of something full of calories and sugar, I grab a fruit or raisins or anything else that’s filling but less than 200 calories.
Ultimately… Did I lose any weight?
Yes! I’m happy to say that I’ve lost 8 pounds and I’m proud of it. I’m still eating as much as I normally do, including snacks, but I’m making healthier choices. I know that I still have a ways to go, but I’m also realistic. I’m only five months postpartum and breastfeeding. I know it’s going to take time but I’m happy with the progress I’ve made to-date.
Spread the word: Share your resolutions with your friends and family! Not only will you gain support from loved ones, but it also encourages you to keep yourself accountable.
Set Yourself up for success: With the new year we tend to set overly-ambitious goals for ourselves, but sometimes creating smaller goals over the duration of the year will get you the same results. If you’re looking to get more fit and healthy, take it one step at a time: drink an extra glass of water everyday, take the stairs and make sure you take your daily multivitamins. It’s easier than you’d think! Taking a vitamin may seem like a chore, but with deliciously easy-to-chew Vitafusion™ MultiVites gummies, these will feel more like a treat! Bring your little ones along the journey as well, and try L’il Critters™ Gummy Vites™. Before you know it, these minor adjustments will eventually grow into effortless routines.
Have fun! One of the best things about New Year’s resolutions is that it’s all up to you! So make it fun and get a little creative. Turn your exercise into a hobby and your organizing into a DIY project. Achieving your goals will feel like a breeze when it’s something you look forward to.
Did you have a new year resolution? If so, how’s it going? Any tips to add?

We are trying to make small changes this week (not really resolutions) but doing them one at a time. January was the month to cut back on coffee and start drinking more water, and I am happy to say that we have done that. I am down to one cup of coffee a day and I am drinking a lot more water. The plan is to carry on with this change and add another one. For February I am going to try and eliminate snacks like potato chips from our diet. I am hoping by taking the slow approach we might be able to stick with some of these changes.

These are great tips! We made similar resolutions this year, and are doing well with reducing the amount of junk food we bring into the house.

We are trying to make different meals and get out of the same meals every week. We are also making sure we are taking our fish oils daily and so far so good.

My new year resolution is to eat healthier and more organic if I can. It’s been hard, but it can be challenging some days, but I feel better about my food choices now though.
