With back-to-school around the corner, I’m spending a lot of time reflecting on our summer. To say the least, it was very different. Less sports, no camps and we basically moved to the cottage. Some of the differences were less than ideal, but some gave us new found appreciation for things we previously took for granted.
While we didn’t participate in any organized extra curricular activities, our boys were still super active. Between swimming in the lake, hiking, rollerblading and playing a variety of lawn games, they got their fill of exercise. Quickly followed by an IMMEDIATE need to refuel.
Basically, I always made sure to keep stock of snacks on hand (lesson #3 of parenting). I would actually declare this the Summer of snacks. Nathan literally lived on them. While most people snack in between meals, Nathan’s meals were his snacks. But I digress…
Of course, we know that not all snacks are created equal. As a parent, I try to make good choices when it comes to my boys’ diet. I’m not perfect, and treats are available, but we minimize those and try to get them to eat fruits and vegetables first.
But can I be real for a second here? Sometimes it’s a pain to get my kids to eat fruits and vegetables. Also, when we’re rushing out the door, it’s not always convenient to wash and cut and prepare 200 (slight exaggeration) different types of fruits and vegetables to appease everybody’s different tastes.
And when it comes to school, I stopped sending my boys with fruits and vegetables for snacks. They boys never ate them during school, and they refused to eat them after because by then, they turned brown and mushy. I hate wasting food, so I figured I would get them to eat it when they are home with me.
So what snacks do I bring with me when I’m on the go? It’s something that is healthy that my kids actually eat and I don’t lose my mind preparing it. It’s GoGo squeeZ!
The squeezable, re-closable pouches are easy to transport and enjoy (minimal mess and fuss for the win). They are made with high-quality ingredients (with around 20 varieties of fruits and veggies) and most importantly, my boys love them!
They truly are the best alternative to fresh fruit. Made from 100% fruit and no added sugar. It’s nut and Gluten free and is a great source of fibre. So whether you’re looking to get your kids to eat a healthy morning snack, or a school snack, or for an easy snack on-the-go, I highly recommend grabbing some GoGo squeeZ pouches.
GoGo squeeZ released some new tropical flavours that the boys just love. They include Apple Mango Guava, Apple Pineapple Passion Fruit and Apple Lime Lemon Orange. Check out the new flavours with GoGo squeeZ TropicalZ! They also come in larger pouch sizes (110g), perfect for kids with bigger appetites like my kids. The package also includes games (Sudoku, Shape Sudoku, Word Find, Strimko) for the kids to play after they are done eating. A snack and a game in one? Clearly this product was created by a loving but desperate parent like myself, right?
