My wordS for 2016!

New Year resolutions… I’m not a big fan.

Resolutions usually just end up being a To-Do list for me. Like taking better care of my teeth. Really, I just need to see my dentist more.  I used to go regularly, every three to four months.  Except, that all stopped when I was pregnant with Nathan. I was so sick that I could barely brush my teeth without gagging. So I cancelled all of my dentist appointments. It’s been over two years now, and I really need to go, so initially I had that as my resolution. But really, that’s more of a “to-do”. I’ve since added five other things to my to-do list for 2016.

Last year was probably the first year I made a resolution at the beginning of 2015. I wanted to live a more healthy lifestyle. My intentions were good and I tried hard to eat well and exercise, but I didn’t really have a PLAN. I just kind of went with the flow. I saw minimal results until I fully committed myself to the 21 day fix program in September. I lost 10 pounds in three weeks and more since. It finally got my weight back to where I wanted to be. However, I wasn’t exercising, I wasn’t getting stronger, so I wasn’t really following my resolution.

So this year, I’m trying something new. I’ve recently read a few blogs that focused on finding a “word” to define and help them focus on what they need to achieve in the year. I see it as more of a lifestyle change versus a task or singular action or change. However, I couldn’t narrow it down to just ONE word. So instead, I have two words: PATIENCE & ENERGY.

I'm Sorry for what I said before I had my coffee

I want to be more patience with my kids, my loved ones and my friends. I want to take the time to really listen and converse, to be in the moment, and not stress about “time” or what’s next on my “to-do” list.

I want to have sufficient energy to be able to keep up with my kids and for myself. Even more… I want sufficient energy to get me through the day. I can’t remember the last time I didn’t feel tired during the day. Exhaustion has played too big of a roll in my life and I want it to stop! I think getting more sleep is part of that so I’ll have to start saying “no” more too! I think part of it is also making more time for ME to do the things that I love and help me feel calm.

I haven’t made a resolution in years, and when I did they were usually broke within a day or two of New Year’s. Now I just follow, live life to it’s fullest, but everything in moderation.

I have sort of made a resolution to try to eat healthier and up my work outs – no particular goal, just small changes so I hopefully will be able to stick to it for a long period of time 🙂
