It’s been a few months since I last posted about my ‘not-sponsored’ favourite things! Between the holidays in December, taking a “break” in January and being sick most of February, I have been slacking on getting my post out. Luckily, all of those months have provided me with lots of great material for this post! So without further adieu, here are some of my favourite things for March (and December, January & February).
- Braun No Touch forehead thermometer – After going through five years with three kids, multiple thermometers that stop working (why the heck do they still use those tinny tiny batteries that no one carries a spare for) and lots of sick days, I decided it was time to invest in a good thermometer (take note new parents putting together a registry / wish-list). My three boys are high-energy, don’t have time to sit still for even a second, and they’re totally uncooperative when they are under the weather. So I needed something that was noninvasive but worked well and wouldn’t keep dying on me. I’ve heard of medical professionals using a no touch forehead scanner before and was happy to hear that Braun has put out a similar thermometer for non commercial use. I bought it early in the year, before the flu season began, and I’ve loved it. My kids don’t mind when we use it, whether we end up touching their forehead with it or not, and it gives you an accurate reading within 3 seconds. So… REALLY QUICK! It’s perfect when you want to take your child’s temperature when they are asleep! I bought mine online at Amazon because it was on sale, but you can also find it on Well.ca, Toys R Us and Walmart.
- L’oreal Mythic (shimmering) Oil for body and hair – I used this oil non-stop when I was on vacation and attending various holiday gatherings and outings throughout December. The oil is an amazing moisturizer for your skin and I loved squirting some on my arms and legs before heading out. The best part is that after you rub it in, you can rub whatever is left on your hands on the bottom of your hair for a shiny and sparkly finish. It really helped me feel that much more glamorous. Besides, I’ve always enjoyed a little glitter here and there, and who says a grown women can’t have it too!
- Live Clean Baby Soothing Vapour Bubble Bath – We’ve been Live Clean bath product users for a long time. We initially started using it as a great cottage shampoo. Since we were using lake water and had a septic system that retained our water outdoors, we felt it was important to use an environmentally friendly product. After having kids, I accidentally stumbled upon Live Clean’s Baby soap and have been obsessed with it every since. It’s soft and gentle on my children’s skin, they never complain of soap in their eyes, and best of all, it has the best scent. You can find me sniffing my kids’ hair for days on-end (it’s THAT good). I recently tried Live Clean’s new Vapour Bubble Bath and I was instantly hooked, both for the kids and for myself. There’s nothing better than the sweet scent of Eucalyptus, Rosemary and Mint when you’re feeling under the weather. It came in really handy this past month when we were sick. No wonder we used up the entire bottle by the end of February.
- Playmobil Easter Egg – If your kids are anything like mine, they’re probably obsessed with Playmobil. My boy’s latest obsession is Knights (ever since we saw “real” knights at Medieval Times back in January) but before that it was the NHL hockey players that were released back in September. I love how they can play pretend with them for hours on end up using their creativity and imagination. That’s why I was so happy to see that my local toy store carried these Easter Egg Playmobil toys. I knew it would be a perfect Easter gift for my boys and a nice change compared to all of the chocolate eggs they’ll be receiving. What’s cool about these eggs is that they can be used to store all of the parts or it can be used as a piggy bank (there’s even a coin slot). You can get a variety of Playmobil characters including pirates, zookeeper with an Alpaca, mermaid and a soccer player. I plan to hide it along with the chocolate eggs Easter Sunday. I can’t wait to see their reaction when they find it!
- Disney’s Lego Star Wars: Droid Tales – Not too long ago, when having brunch with my friend and her family, we started discussing our sons obsession with everything Star Wars. While we let our boys see Star Wars DVDs at home, they were still scared and hid under blankets through several scenes. My friend’s husband then said that he hopes that they come out with a Lego Star Wars show soon as he thinks that would be a great alternative. And guess what? They did! Those folks at Disney are pretty clever, aren’t they? As soon as my oldest son Kyle got home for school we put the DVD on and he was instantly hooked and we had to pull him away… literally. The episodes are retelling the entire Star Wars saga, hilariously told by R2-D2 and C-3PO. Pick this up for your little Star Wars fans or for yourself if you’re looking for a Coles Notes, easy to follow, version of the movie.
