Besides the glitter, shopping, delicious food and family time, there’s one more thing that I love about the holidays. As a mom to three young kids, it’s not often that I get a night out. Between traveling for work and a variety of work-related events or family functions, we don’t really have much time for a night out, let alone a date-night. I’ll be the first to admit that even if we did, I’d probably prefer to just stay at home, put on my pajamas, and watch a movie in the comfort of my bed!
But the holidays and all of it’s festive moods brings out the “party” side of me. I own way too many dressy clothes that I hardly get to wear and come December, I’ll find any excuse to put on my sparkly dress, or my little black dress or my new tulle skirt. It’s also a great excuse to go shopping for a new fun and stylish dress. We’re very fortunate to have lots of friends who love to host holiday parties and my husband has not one, but TWO holiday work parties (one in Toronto and one in New York).
Throughout the year, I’ll admit that I’m pretty low key when it comes to personal maintenance. But the weekly celebrations during the holiday season are a great excuse to get dolled up. It’s the one time I wear makeup and shave my legs frequently (much to my husband’s content). Of course that doesn’t mean I like to spend a lot of time getting ready. I’m lucky to have a great hair straightener, my go to mascara, and my favourite razor -Schick Intuition* – which lathers and shaves in one easy step!
Besides getting dolled up and dressing up, these parties are a great way to reconnect with our friends who we hardly see during the remainder of the year. Between work, kids and family obligations, there’s never any time. I find that around the holidays, people always MAKE time and push everything else aside. Whether it’s the extra booze talking or the need to celebrate and reconnect, it’s one of my favourite things about the holiday season.

The holidays make me want to get dressed up and look my best to go out and party as well, I love to get out with friends this time of year!!

I absolutely LOVE the holidays! and one of the things I love is getting all dolled up (since it never really happens anymore) and dressing up in festive colors

We never seem to get an excuse to get dressed up anymore, we have a couple Christmas get together but they are casual. We do have 2 wedding to attend in 2017 so I guess we will have to save our good clothes until then!
