When we arrived to the bright pink signs, my mind started racing a million miles an hour. Would Kyle run back to the car because it looked too “girly”? Would they be the only boys there and feel weird? We trekked on…
After our sweet treat we got outfitted with some very comfortable robes and picked our nail polish (blue, green and sprinkle galore). We also got to sniff and choose bath bombs that will be used during our manicure and pedicure. This might have been the boy’s favourite part.
During our pedicure – yes, I got one too, we received another sweet treat. We all got to enjoy some ice-cream with gummy worms.
The staff kept my boys engaged by asking them so many great questions like their favourite colours, sports, games, favourite subject, etc… The boys loved the attention and the pampering. I enjoyed watching them get into the whole process. I was in parenting heaven. All of the other moms who were there with their daughters (yes, mine were the only boys there, at least when we were there), were gashing over how cute and awesome my boys are and that it was so great of me to bring them in. I couldn’t help but feel proud!
I think though, that the best part of our experience at the spa occurred during our manicure. Before the nail polish went on, the staff asked me to apply lotion to each boy’s hand and while I rubbed it, I could tell them one thing that I love about them. Later, each boy got a chance to do the same thing to me. It was such a touching moment both for me to get to tell each boy what I love about them specifically and for me to hear what they think about me. It also made me realize that I don’t do this enough. Sure, I tell them that I love them about 100 times a day, but I definitely do not tell them something specific and unique about them often enough. It was a touching moment and a great reminder. I’m not going to lie, it was hard holding back my tears.
Before we left I told the boys that they can each pick out two bath bombs to bring home with them – again, their favourite part! We left with a bag full of bath goodies, great looking nails, and cherished memories to last me a lifetime.
I should note that Kyle did have a play date that afternoon and he did ask me to remove his nail polish in fear of being ridiculed by his friend. I obliged but didn’t make a fuss about it. I was just so happy he was open and excited about the whole experience, never hesitating once while we were at Glama Gal. Knowing that I only have a few more years left to enjoy this experience with the youngest boys, I will definitely be heading back to Glama Gal Tween Spa soon!
Disclosure: I received the services for my boys and I for free without any expectations for anything back in exchange. However, the experience was so wonderful and unexpected in many ways, that I really wanted to write a post about it to share it with you all.

I love the lack of gender stereotyping in this! No limits for our kids.

This is absolutely well deserved by my sister who has two hyper active daughters. I would love her to have a hot stone massage therapy.
