This year I’m celebrating a birthday milestone. Well, I wouldn’t exactly say ‘celebrating’ since we’re in the middle of a pandemic. My original hopes included a trip to Japan with John and throwing a small bash at home with our closest friends. However, I was still determined to make the most of the situation.
Since I couldn’t have the adult 40th birthday party I wanted, I decided to have a kid-friendly celebration. After all, nothing can compete with a kid’s excitement for a good birthday party. I also needed to hold it outdoors in my backyard to make it COVID safe for my nieces and nephews.
For the longest time I didn’t know what we could do to celebrate this occasion. But then, I found out about Ruckify. A platform where users can either rent out their stuff or look for items to rent. Within minutes of searching around the App, I found some vendors who provide Bounce House & Party Equipment Rentals and immediately decided to throw a Carnival themed party. I knew it would be something that can be enjoyed by both kids and adults.
As a nice bonus, we already own a cotton candy machine (passed on to us by family that moved overseas). With the food and entertainment taken care of, I felt like everything was coming together. Of course the kids had a blast, and even my dad and I got into a friendly tossing competition.
If you’re not familiar with Ruckify, here’s why it’s an amazing online rental marketplace. For starters, if there’s one thing that 2020 has taught me is that I need to spend less but also support local when I do need to make purchases. Ruckify achieves both of those things by offering rentals (thereby promoting sustainable purchases) and by providing people the ability to earn additional income with everyday items that they already own. I’ve added my cotton candy machine as a rental item and I’ll be adding a few more items in the following weeks (like my huge and mostly unused roasting pan for the holidays).
It’s also a great way to try out potential big-ticket items first (like a bike or backyard patio heater or even a projector for a special family movie night) to decide if you really do want to purchase something or not. I’m already thinking ahead to winter and some of the items I’ll need to rent. I want to make our backyard more of an oasis to entice us to spend more time outside in the winter.
Lastly, I love the fact that Ruckify plants a tree for every sign-up, rental & review made on their platform to help mitigate the environmental footprint of consumer goods.
I have to give a special shout out to the vendor that I worked with – The MAIN EVENT. They were super easy to work with, very communicative and Jeff provided excellent service in setting up the carnival games blowup. I would highly recommend them and will definitely be renting from them again.
Sign up is quick and free. Head over to Ruckify.com to check it out for yourself. Be sure to use my referral code “MAYAHOOD” when signing up so you can receive a $35 credit off your first rental!
