Mom guilt… you instantly have it when you become a mom. Or I should say, when your child is born and you become a mom, mom guilt becomes part of your new identity. It’s a crazy phenomenon due to both nurture and nature. We naturally feel guilty but we also receive a lot of pressure from society as a whole to be perfect (hello… Pinterest & Instagram). It’s no wonder moms are constantly struggling to find the time to “do it all”.
I remember when Kyle was born and I joined a mom group. All of the moms were so amazing and helpful and supportive but I couldn’t help but feel guilty when they all spoke about feeding their children organic food or food made from scratch. I, on the other hand, was all about the baby jars. It was quick and easy and having a child with colic, I didn’t have much time for anything else. On one hand, my kid was fed and he was happy, so I should have been content with that but on the other hand, I felt guilty for not making the food from scratch or at least buying organic.
More recently, I felt the mom guilt when my son’s school sent a letter home advising parents not to send packaged snacks and treats to school. They sited environmental concerns and healthy options as part of the reason (which I agree with), but again, it made me feel guilty. I don’t have time to prepare home-made snacks at home. I barely have time to pack my child’s lunch. They should just thank me for that! I know it all comes from a good place, but I can’t help but feel guilty every time I pack my son a packaged snack. Although sometimes, I take the snack out of the package and put it in a reusable snack bag just to make myself feel better (oh the crazy things parents do)!
But over the past 6 years, I’ve learned to let things go. Yes, I still feel guilty, but I still do things my way based on what works best for me and my family. If my kids are fed and clothed and happy, that’s all that matters, not the HOW! That’s why I love the #EndMomGuilt campaign from Marie Callender’s. They understand that moms worry about what they feed their kids but they don’t necessarily have the time to cook from scratch every night. According to a ConAgra Foods survey, 7 out of 10 moms wish they could spend less time preparing meals and 94 per cent are eager to give their kids the highest quality meals possible.
Marie Callender’s have some delicious and hearty frozen entrée meal options that can be prepared in as little as 15 minutes either in the microwave or in the oven. Marie Callender’s frozen entrées are available at grocery stores nationwide. They recently launched six savoury frozen entrées made with wholesome, quality ingredients—that are perfect for busy families:
- Three Meat Lasagna
- Chicken Lasagna
- Creamy Chicken Alfredo
- Scalloped Potatoes in a Creamy Cheese Sauce with Ham
- Creamy White Mac
- Hearty Three-Meat Marinara

My favourite part is “Mom Guilt is doing everything right, to the best of your ability and still feeling like it’s not enough!” Grab a tissue and watch the video HERE!

Oh, mom guilt is real. It’s one of those continuing processes of trying to remind yourself that yourre doing ok even though you feel like you’re failing.

Marie Callender’s meals are a huge hit in our house with the kids and with me! Some nights I am just too tired or have been too busy to cook a meal from scratch and they are not only delicious but kid approved!

oh the mom guilt, I know it all too well for the same reasons as you. With three little boys running around the house there was no time for making organic food! lol

Mmm, will have to check out Marie Callender’s next time I’m at the store. Especially for the Scalloped Potatoes in a Creamy Cheese Sauce with Ham, yum! We’re trying to cut back on frozen foods for their unreadable ingredients, but if these are made with quality ingredients, then I just might become a new fan, lol.

This is such a great idea. I would love to try these foods for my boys. I really need a break lately. I’ve been training for a marathon (happening in less than a week) and I really need to take a break. These dishes sound right up my alley. 🙂
