Somehow it happened. Somehow, my son, who was born just YESTERDAY, celebrated his fifth birthday party a few weeks ago. Don’t ask me to explain it, but it’s true. You’ll just have to take my word for it.
To further prove that he’s growing up way too quickly for my liking, he chose a very cool theme for his birthday party. Much to my and my father’s (a huge Star Wars fan and collectible enthusiast) joy, he wanted to do a Star Wars theme for his party. Here’s the amazing invite created by Lisa Pomroy
We held Kyle’s birthday party at an indoor playground which may have a wet pour rubber surfacing, where we also happened to have celebrated his second birthday. It’s a perfect place to allow 5 and 6 year old kids to run around and have fun.
If you live in Toronto, I would highly recommend Playground Paradise as it’s city run and extremely affordable compared to private-owned indoor playgrounds, it’s super safe and clean, they constantly get Wetpour Maintenance. You can host up to 25 kids and have a total of 40 people. For a private-party, you get access to the playground for one hour and the party room for two hours. For all your playground markings needs, consider hiring Thermoplastic Playground Markings.
While the kids slid and jumped and climbed and used up all of their energy, my mom and I were busy preparing the room.
We fed the kids (and adults) pizza lunch and for dessert we enjoyed cupcakes and cake.
I got these awesome Star Wars themed cupcakes (from Longos), where the topper is a Star Wars character ring.
The cake was lovingly made by Storytime by Joya. She did an awesome job and not only was the cake delicious, she’s very reasonably priced.
Each kid that attended Kyle’s birthday party received a loot bag that included a Disney Star Wars themed Hot Wheels Car and a Shopkins along with some Star Wars themed candy, and playdoh.
Not surprisingly, Kyle was showered with Star Wars themed gifts!
Kyle had an amazing day and he’s already planning in his next birthday party!
Somewhat related… Kyle attended a friend’s birthday party the following day that was also a Star Wars themed party. His friend had a “Jedi Training” party at a martial arts center. The party began with an arts and crafts activity whereby each kid created their own lightsaber out of pool noodles (cut in half) and decorated with duck tape and stickers. This obviously led to some pretend sword fighting before learning how to train like a Jedi. The birthday boy’s parents also made Jedi & Princess Leia costumes for each kid. Using simple brown or white fabric, they cut a hole for the head and a slit on each side and gave each kid a sash. At the end of the event, kids enjoyed a viewing of the original Star Wars movie. Pretty cute idea, right?
There are so many great ways to incorporate Star Wars into your kids birthday party. What have you done or seen?
