Nothing! Absolutely nothing happened.
Sorry for the “catchy-title” but in today’s day and age, where it seems like our cell phones are an extension of our body, it’s sometimes crazy to think that we would leave the house without one.
We were short on diapers and a few other essentials (Cheerios, Star Wars band aids… you know, the important stuff), so when my parents were over, I took advantage of their time here and decided to venture out on my own (a rarity for me as a stay at home to three young boys). While I said my good-byes to my five and three year old, I tried to sneak out without Nate, my 16 month old, noticing. He’s in a very clingy phase and I just thought it would be easier. So as I headed for the door, I realized that my cell phone was across the room, all the way on the other side of the main floor. Do I risk being seen by Nate? I just headed straight out the door and didn’t look back.
And you know what? I survived! Not only that, but I remembered my entire shopping list by heart (using my brain no less). I was able to concentrate without any distractions and truly enjoy my “alone” time. I even treated myself to some Starbucks and had meaningful conversations with random people (part of my 2016 resolutions).
Granted I was out only for one hour but I “survived” and it actually felt good. Sure, our cell phones are great for emergencies but they’re really just for convenience. I mean, we don’t really need to be connected 24/7 which is what I do since I’m slightly addicted to my cell phone. I’m not going to lie, it’s probably not going to be a regular occurrence, but it’s nice to know I could manage without it, even if just for an hour.

ohh my i so can relate, i was getting ready to drop the little guy off at daycare today and i put my cell phone in his bag and i was going to take it out once i got in the car. Well, what do you know, i completely forgot it. I completely freaked out when i got to work and noticed i didnt have it. I was stressed about how would the sitter get a hold of me if she needed to. I had no way of contacting her other than email as all of her contact info was in my phone. Well, i emailed her and she now has my work no, but until the time when i was able to get a hold of her i was a mess. Its been a couple of hours and i keep going to my phone to check any fb updates and i feel naked. lol

It’s funny you made this post. As much as I love reading or catching up on articles and news updates from some of my favorites blogs. I forget my phone all the time until I need a number. Luckily, as long as I have access to the Internet, everything I need is accessible.

It’s amazing how attached we are to our phones. I feel absolutely naked without it.

Lol I can totally relate, I have done this exact same thing before! I am also a SAHM to 3 littles and never venture out on my own. It’s funny how the little things make so much difference, like an hour of alone time and especially time away from electronics. I flip without my cell but I am totally capable without it too! 🙂
