Thanksgiving might be over, but that doesn’t mean that you can put away your nice dishes and fancy table clothes just yet. In fact, Thanksgiving often represents the beginning of entertaining season. We’re only in the first few weeks of October but we already have four holiday parties to look forward to before the year ends. While we used to host a lot more pre-kids, we still have our share of family and friends over every once in a while for Friday night dinners, kid’s birthdays and just for fun!
Part of the fun of hosting is setting the mood or decorating. This year, we’re having my family over for Halloween since it’s going to fall on a Saturday. While we’ll order in sushi, I want to focus on setting the table and making it festive and fun for the kids as us hosting on Halloween has become an annual tradition. I know my two oldest boys will be helping me set the table as they love to host too and I’m sure they’ll like to make the table setting kid-friendly in both the look and functionality.
Today I’m sharing some tips from Church & Dwight on how to set the table for any occasion. What else would you add?
When planning a holiday feast, the centerpiece is the focal point. If you’re entertaining now during the Fall season, there are many themes to choose from. Whether autumnal or incorporating more crafty pieces like construction-paper turkey feathers and pumpkin-shaped place mats. Can’t decide? Why not incorporate more than one theme and get the best of everything this season has to offer.
For a more elegant theme, crisp white linens with matching white china and sparkling glassware is a classic. This creates a neutral palette for an autumnal centerpiece to really shine. For a fun-filled festive table, a craft paper runner with mason jars of crayons is sure to be a hit, allowing the little ones to add their own designs, limited only by their imaginations.
With so much thought devoted to planning the perfect holiday table, the last thing you want is for guests to be distracted by spotty dishware or dull, stained table linens. To keep your festive linens from fading, use OxiClean™ Versatile Stain Remover. This oxygen-based stain fighter is chlorine free and colour safe. It can also tackle stains that detergent alone can leave behind. To keep your dishware spotless and sparkling use OxiClean™ Auto Dish Detergent Lemon Clean – this way you can be sure the first toast is as beautiful as the occasion.
