Signs of winter are all around. Between the chill in the air, the coats and boots scattered in the hallway, the first sighting of frost and snow, and holiday shopping being in full swing.  While some people are easy to shop for, others are not. I found that to be the case this year with my youngest. Since he has two older brothers, he already has tons of hand-me-downs. However, I can’t show up empty handed because he’s at the age where he’s well aware of everything that is happening and he’ll be just as eager to open up gifts and play with new toys. If you’re also unsure of what to get for the special kids on your list, have no fear! I’ve teamed up with four other bloggers: Lisa from Fab Frugal Mama, Christine from Life on Manitoulin, Amanda from Multi-Testing Mommy, and Meri from Lil-Sugar and we’ve put together a list of our favourite products and brands that are sure to be a hit and top everyone’s list.  Not only that, but…. (drum-roll please…), we’re giving each item away!  That’s right… one lucky winner will walk away with all of these fabulous products, as part of our giveaway for kids, valued at $1300. How is that for a reason to celebrate? Without further adieu… here is our holiday gift-guide for kids!

Barbie

While I have few childhood memories (my brain works in mysterious ways), I will always remember my Barbies and my Barbie doll house. Barbie brought me companionship when my friends were too busy to play. It also frequently brought friends over to my house as we all loved playing with my Barbies. I loved nothing more than playing pretend and dressing up Barbie. She is an iconic doll and I love seeing my nieces play and love their Barbie dolls just as much. You can find a Barbie to suit every child on your list whether they love to sing, dance or help animals. Whether your child is into Katy Perry like my boys are or Adele like every adult female in the world, or is an aspiring fashion designer, you can pick up a Rock ‘n Royals Barbie, or a Fashionistas. For hours of entertainment and imaginative play, don’t forget to pick up some cute accessories, whether it’s Rock ‘n Royal Stage Playset, an RV truck or my personal favourite, a full Barbie house.

Fisher-Price Newborn Gear

If you have a baby to shop for this holiday season, you should check out the Deluxe Take Along Swing & Seat. I gifted this to my brother and sister-in-law and it came in handy when they were traveling back and forth between home and the cottage throughout the summer. This portable, easy-to-fold, two-in-one product combines a stationary seat and an infant seat.  A removable newborn insert lets mom use this product from day one, while calming vibration settings soothe baby, as do six swing speeds with smart-swing technology. The seat, which retails for $99.99 can be used for children up to 25lbs.

Another great gift idea for a newborn is the Fisher-Price Smart Connect 2-in-1 Projection Mobile. I honestly wish I had a cute mobile like this for my oldest. I bet it would have helped him keeping him happy in the crib instead of the cries wailing we always heard when he woke up. Connect this mobile directly to a smartphone or tablet to activate the spinning mobile, or to turn on the calming music and soothing lights without disturbing baby. The projection mobile, which retails for $69.99, also grows with baby from a motorized crib mobile (0-5 months) where a light show projects on the mobile canopy, to a crib soother for older babies where a light show projects on the ceiling.

The Children’s Place

Just last week I visited The Children’s Place and purchased a few great items for the holidays. I got matching pajamas for all of my boys (sizes: 18 months, 3T and 5T), a Star-Wars toque, gloves, sweatshirts, a few T-shirts and some socks (somehow, my boys never have socks to wear…).  The entire store was filled with great holiday outfits, for both boys and girls and tons of stocking stuffers items too. It’s great because you can purchase an entire outfit in one store including shoes, socks (or leggings), dress, shirts, pants, skirts and ties. They even have a great selection of outdoor gear! If you haven’t been to The Children’s Place in a while, you should go and check them out in your nearest store or online. With so many cute outfits, you will be wishing they made some to fit you!

The Children's Place

Yummy Nummies

With Yummy Nummies, kids can not only help their parents bake and cook for the holidays, but they can also make their own yummy treats in miniature. Yummy Nummies sets come with everything kids need to create fun mini foods from cupcakes to cookies to tasty candy bars without their parents help. The Birthday cake maker kit retails for $34.99, but smaller kits are available starting at $12.99.

Birthday Cake Party Set

I had so much fun making the mini donuts and chocolate bars with my boys on the weekend. It’s a perfect indoor activity when the weather doesn’t cooperate!

Playmobil Hockey Players

If you have kids who are hockey obsessed like mine, you will want to get your hands on some Playmobil NHL hockey players. They are a big hit with my kids who play with the arena and players daily since we bought it almost three months ago.  The players, who are available in one of the original six teams jerseys, make great stocking stuffers. You can also purchase goalies and referees. However, I would highly recommend that you purchase the rink and Zamboni for the full effect.

Tekno newborn puppy

Another fun stocking stuffer for the pet lover on your list is the Tekno newborn puppy.  This miniature puppy (size of your hand), can sit, walk, bark and beg. Your 8 week old puppy responds to voice and touch.  Pet him on the head and he makes happy sounds, and wiggle his ears and tail. The puppy will interact with you and other pets. Wiggly ears & tail.
