Tomorrow night we light the first light of the Hanukkia. This year, more than ever, I want to make Hanukkah extra special at our house. Mostly because my oldest son is three years old and he’s starting to understand the meaning of holidays and living in Canada, he’s surrounded with Christmas all around him.
Unfortunately, in our neighbourhood, there aren’t too many Hanukkah related decorations or toys or arts and crafts activities for me to purchase for my son. While I can get some a short-drive away, it’s not always convenient for me with two boys in tow.
Recently, I discovered a great new site that allows me to get my “holiday-on” from the comfort of my home. Jewish Holidays in a Box is a site created by Ellen Zimmerman whose passion for learning, teaching, and creativity enabled her to create this wonderful site full of resources for parents who want to learn and teach their kids all about the Jewish holidays in a fun and creative way.
Her site has helpful kits and downloadable products for Hanukkah, Passover, Purim, Rosh Hashana, Sukkot and Shabbat. While Hanukkah starts tomorrow, it does last for 8 days. So if you’re like me and need some help with the creative side of the holidays, you will love what Ellen’s site has to offer for Hanukkah. We got to try out the Happy Hanukkah Art & Activity Pack and it was a big hit with my son.
Right now, Mayahood readers can received 50% the collection of Hanukkah downloadables using code MAYA at checkout. Already reduced to $9.95, the collection will now be $4.98.
What’s your favourite activity to do with your kids during Hanukkah?

Look for the Hanukkah Triple Play (the name of the product with 3 different Hanukkah downloadables) to use the MAYA code. It should work like a charm! Happy Hanukkah to all who celebrate 🙂 Warmly, Ellen
