It’s a New Year, a new start and a fresh slate! More importantly, I’m not as swamped as I was just a few weeks ago. December was a “heads-down” kind of month and now I’m just taking things easy and enjoying a lot of down time! Which is great because it gives me time to tell you all about some of my favourite things so hopefully they will be some of your favourite things too!
Smithery
Early in December I had one of the best mornings ever. I joined my fellow blogger Susan (islapearl.com) and we got to pretend to be models. I even made a very demanding request for (starbucks) coffee ahead of time.
In all honestly, it was fun because I was doing something out of my comfort zone and playing dress up with lovely friends and new friends. I was smitten with the clothes and the general concept of the brand. If you love fashion but are a little unsure of what to wear, Smithery is here to help. Figure out your body shape (A, H, X, O or V) and then browse their amazing catalogue of clothes that lets you know whether or not the piece you like would suite your body type. I purchased a few pieces after my photoshoot and I pretty much just rotate between them. They’re stylish, comfortable and fit great. My kind of shopping!!
If you’re inclined to purchase from them (and I hope you do as you’ll also be supporting two awesome ladies from Canada), make sure to use code Maya to receive $10 off your purchase! Check them out HERE!
Fudi
How often does your family expect dinner? Mine wants it EVERY NIGHT… crazy, I know! In all seriousness, it’s a pain point for me. I despise cooking, I’m not creative and besides 4 go-to recipes, I’m useless! That being said, I actually care about what my kids eat (and what I eat while we’re at it). I obviously prefer fresh and healthy versus processed and packaged. But sometimes, there just isn’t the time or you may just not be prepared. This is the situation we faced last week after we returned from out 2 week vacation. Dinner rolled around and besides not having anything planned, the fridge was empty. Luckily, the freezer wasn’t – we had FUDI! Each Fudi kit comes with a chicken, a starch and a vegetable, all sourced locally in Ontario. The best part? You put it in boiling water and it’s ready in 15 minutes… FIFTEEN MINUTES!! While I’m not crazy about the kale (I opt to make my own salad), the chicken and side (pearl barley) are really delicious and come in a variety of flavours! Each entree is $10 which is a great price for a complete (healthy and delicious) meal. Basically, stock up and forget about it!
Facebook Buy & Sell Groups
Okay, way too much of my time has been taken up by this lately, but… 1. It helps me declutter and 2. $$$!! Don’t get me wrong, I still donate a ton but I figured that I can make some money too. Why not recoup some of the hundreds that I’ve spent on my kids. 2017 got me all purging and clearing out the excessive amount of stuff we own. I like selling my stuff on the FB groups because it’s to other individuals in my neighborhood and I like that others get to enjoy stuff my kids have (at a portion of the cost). The key though, is to sell more than you spend. Have you sold your stuff via a FB group or through a different site?
Costco Find
I love Costco, you love Costco, and if you don’t, you probably haven’t shopped there yet. The thing about Costco is that you go in to buy a few things but end up finding so many great things there you can’t leave without spending at least $300 (and I’m low balling here). Well, I’m just smitten with my latest find there. It’s this awesome lumberjack style pj’s. They’re so comfortable and soft and I love that it has a winter-theme look to it. I don’t have the tag anymore, but I can’t imagine that it was more than $20. What was your recent “find” there?
Now it’s your turn… what’s your favourite things for January?
