One (of the thousands) of benefits of having a child is getting to explore your city and the numerous events that take place throughout the year. Last year, while seeking an activity for my son and I, I attended The Ex, at the Canadian National Exhibit for the first time. Since I have such fond memories of that day, including my son feeding and chasing around the farm animals in the petting zoo, I wanted to make it a yearly tradition.
This year was no different. Our day was quickly filled with fun activities, including meeting Barney at the Live show. While all the kids were front and centre, all of the adults were happily singing along as well. Near the kids’ world stage is the kidstreet interactive zone. My son spent hours creating in the art studio.
Also this year, instead of a petting zoo, there was a reptile exhibit. Another family favourite is the The Farm, located at the Better Living Centre. We got to explore and learn all about farm life first hand. Along the way, we even got to sit in a fire truck (I might have been slightly more excited than my son by the looks on our face).
Of course, our favourite part was the Kiddie Midway. Surprisingly, there were a lot of rides that my son could go on. Some with me, and some on his own. My son’s personal favourite was the speedway. Either way, I would definitely recommend getting a day pass instead of buying tickets. There were several rides that my son just wanted to go on again and again.
There’s also a great baby care centre located at kids’ world. The Centre provides a quiet location for nursing and diaper changing. They also have a great little area set up for kids to play and read books for some down-time or while mom is busy with baby.
These are just SOME of the many things your family can enjoy at The Ex, not to mention the amazing food in the Food Building, special events, meet & greets with your child’s favourite TV characters and a Mardi Gras Parade that’s held nightly.
