The winter holidays feel like they took place ages ago, even though they happened two months ago. Leading up to the holidays was a little chaotic as I tried to organize and make plans to host our families for two separate holidays. As I reflect, I only seem to remember the good times we had and how much fun we had hosting. We love entertaining family and friends and to be honest, we haven’t really stopped. There’s just something great about hosting at your own place. You get to decide the meals and alcohol fruity drink that will be served, and selfishly, we can put our kids to bed when they are tired but keep the night going if we want.
Typically, when we host, I’m in charge of the menu, and John is in charge of the drinks. For those of you that we have hosted, you know that John takes his job very seriously. Since the summer, his favourite drink to make is a Moscow Mule. That’s why when we moved into our new house the first thing I purchased was a set of copper mugs. Mules are easy to make and delicious even for those with a discerning taste. John recently was introduced to a new twist to the traditional Mule recipe – adding mint – which makes it even more delicious! To make this drink at your next event, here’s what you need (although John never measures, so you can pretty much just wing it and it will still taste fine).
Mint Moscow Mule
Ingredients
1 1/2 oz. Polar Ice vodka
3 oz. Ginger beer
1/4 oz. lime juice
2-3 mint sprigs plus more for garnish
2 big ice cubes
Directions
Muddle mint sprigs in the bottom of your mug. Add the ice, lime juice, vodka, and ginger beer and stir. Garnish with mint, serve & enjoy!

Give back to Polar Bears International
You might have noticed that the Polar Ice Vodka bottle looks different. That’s because this is its limited edition Bearless Bottle, back for its second year. In support of Polar Bears International’s mission to keep the magic of Canada’s arctic alive, the company has removed its iconic polar bear from the bottle for a limited time. Aiming to raise awareness for this noble cause, Polar Ice Vodka is working together with Polar Bears International to reverse this trend. As the planet warms and the ice melts, the bears’ habitat is continuing to be destroyed as they lose their homes. Scientists predict that two-thirds of the worlds polar bears will disappear within this century. You can help support this amazing initiative by making a donation at PolarBearsInternational.org. Find out more and how you can help by visiting PolarIce.ca/bearlessbottle.

A local store but they don’t make it anymore 🙁 The countertops were from a place in Markham / Richomond Hill. I can get you the contact from my contractor if you’re interested. And the recipe is delish 🙂
