Let’s be honest, with a high-energy two-year old in tow, and another on the way, I hardly have any ME time. And I don’t even mean alone time. I mean, I’m lucky if I am able to shower every morning and get out of the house without any food stains on my clothes. It’s no surprise I can’t remember the last time I really pampered myself and got a facial. As a mom, my body, and my face, have changed dramatically from my pre-mommy days. So, I jumped at the opportunity for an acupressure facial at Urban Foot & Wellness Clinic conveniently located on Yonge & Clark, just north of Steeles (in Thornhill). I voluntold my parents that they need to babysit Kyle while I enjoyed some mom-ME time.
When I met Margaret Lee, the Acupuncture and Holistic Nutritionist, I was immediately met with a warm, friendly smile. She began to explain to me the various services she provides including Acupuncture, Holistic Nutrition advice, Acupressure and Cosmetic Acupuncture. She follows the teaching and methods of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Margaret explained to me the various benefits of acupuncture and acupressure. Some of the less obvious ones are to increase fertility, digestion, PMS cramps and treat insomnia and headaches. Since I knew very little about acupuncture (and I’m not going to lie, a little afraid of it), Margaret inserted one of the needles in my arms so I can see what it felt like. I was immediately relieved to find out that you can’t even feel it, but I couldn’t wait to start my facial acupressure. To learn more about acupressure, check out Margaret’s blog for more details on the technique and benefits: http://www.nutriacure.com/2009/01/30/what-is-acupressure/
Just like a facial, she started with a cleanse, and then applied a mask. And then, for the next half an hour, I was treated to an amazing facial massage. Applying gentle pressure from her fingertips, Margaret massaged specific points on my head, neck and shoulders. I think I even dozed off for a little. It really was one of the best massages that I’ve ever received, and it was only on my head and face. Who knew!! To say the least, I didn’t want it to end. I felt more relaxed than I had in a long time.
Here is your chance to enjoy (or give that special person in your life a gift) an acupressure facial treatment or any of the other amazing services offered at Urban Foot & Wellness Clinic. They are a multi-disciplinary wellness clinic that offers chiropractic, foot care, custom orthotics, massage and of course acupuncture and holistic nutrition. Most services are covered by your extended benefits. What better way to use them up by the end of the year than by pampering yourself or taking care of your aching back, feet and neck!

Hey there! Mom-ME time sounds like a fantasy. Glad you enjoyed your time alone 🙂
I did all the above and would probably go for the acupressure facial since your description of it sounds divine.

Hi Mya,
I did all the above, and like above, I would have to treat myself to the same facial massage you did. It sounds marvelous. Even if I don’t win, I think I will need to take a trip one day soon while the kids are in school.

I’d do the facial massage or hot stone massage….a day of pampering sounds wonderful!

Hey Maya, it sounds fantastic. Since I already follow your blog and like your blog on facebook, I’ve now ‘liked’ the Ubran Foot and Wellness Clinic 🙂 The services all look amazing, but I’d be most interested in the facial acupressure and the holistic nutrition that the clinic has to offer
